Deep Dive #1 - The Bright Future

With Season 63 of the SMJHL in the rear-view mirror, Season 63 is now complete for the St. Louis Scarecrows. Season 63 for the Scarecrows was no doubt a rocky ride, only picking up 24 points, with a fairly respectable record of 8 - 50 - 8, in a total of 66 games played. It is no secret that the St. Louis Scarecrows are in a complete re-build, however, the future is bright for The St. Louis Scarecrows, with budding rookies, Michael Myers - LW, Talan Bacalso - RW, Joshua Corcoran - G, Matt Tress - C, and Outdoor Truck - LW. Now let's take a look at their rookie seasons with the St. Louis Scarecrows...

                            GP     G     A     PTS     +/-    PM
Outdoor Truck -      66     7     17     24     -37     26

Growing up in a small city Ii, Finland Truck didn't have a lot to do, so naturally, he started to hit trees, when he first got his skates on everyone noticed his IQ, the dude couldn't skate for anything, but dang was he smart. Growing older his skating got better, He grow in size and his IQ kept getting better. As an adult his your typical Power Forward/Screener player, Big frame, good at winning battles, great in front of net presence, and stubbornness. BUT his shot is not to be underestimated. Given the right conditions, he can send some heat towards the net. Along with his IQ, He has developed to be quite a good defender as well, blocking shots and poking pucks away from defenders at the point. With his IQ comes also a clean way of playing in that he doesn't take many penalties

Matt Tress -           66      4      7     11      -41     8
Jayden Cloutier -    66      5      4      9       -66    22

Jayden Cloutier is a highly focused defenseman, who is known for his amazing speed, flying down the ice as he carries the puck from behind his own net, and dazzling fans in the crowd with his super-bomb, slap - shots from the point. He has a snipe of a wrist shot, great for run-and-gun chances. Cloutier is ideal on the Power Play, acting as a quarterback, taking super slap bombs from the point. Even on the Penalty Kill, Cloutier is super tough, blocking shots left, right, and center, and given two seconds with the puck, an aerial clear is in the making. But the most important quality of Jayden Cloutier is his attitude: he never shows his frustration on the ice and is just a great morale booster in the locker room, never trash-talking - people, but always trying to lift his teammate's spirits and morale, along with his own.

Talan Bacalso -        33      4      2       6      -25     2
Michael Myers -     33      2      3       5      -14     5

Goaltenders
                           GP     W     L     OTL   GAA    SV%   SO
Joshua Corcoran -  59     5     44      7     5.11   0.899    0

With the rookies of the St. Louis Scarecrows rookies covered, let us take a look into the build of the Scarecrows. This season, General Manager Sparky made a trade with the Regina Elk, trading away Mars Stanton and a 3rd Round Pick, for Hail Bingus and a 2nd round pick. This draft year is socked for the crows, as I said before, they have their first-round draft pick, along with their own second, and the Regina Elk's second, minus their third. The odds of picking up a good prospect this season are super high. With the 5 active rookies above, training and improving at sonic speed, by the time it is for these young rookies to head up into the SHL, the young St. Louis Scarecrows will likely be near the top of the league, where they belong.
