Marshall Madden – 704 TPE – St. Louis Scarecrows

Voted: Most likely to retire the first SHL billionaire.

SHL DRAFT: 10th OVERALL – Minnesota Monarchs

Season 70:
Games: 66 – Goals: 13 – Assists: 15 -  Points: 28 - +/- (-44) – PIM: 32 – Shots: 131 – BLK: 46 – Hits: 174
Season 71:
Games: 66 – Goals: 22 – Assists: 24 -  Points: 46 - +/- (2) – PIM: 41 – Shots: 232 – BLK: 58 – Hits: 194
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 20 – Assists: 50 -  Points: 70 - +/- (19) – PIM: 53 – Shots: 258 – BLK: 46 – Hits: 190
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 18 – Assists: 27 -  Points: 45 - +/- (-16) – PIM: 34 – Shots: 182 – BLK: 56 – Hits: 144

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 243

A true two way forward. Marshall has a good range for shooting, but not elite in accuracy. He is good at moving the puck but average at passing the puck. His defensive side is much the same; good at using his body and working over opponents, knows how to be in the right place at the right time, but below average in shot blocking. It’s hard to get a beat on Marshall as he is slowly developing into a very good all around two way player.

Strength:
Offensive Reads – 13
Acceleration – 13
Positioning – 13

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 8
Passing – 10
Strength – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

The most complete offensive two way forward in this draft.  Madden has made his game known in all three zones of the ice and can keep up with anyone on the ice.  He owns incredible offensive talent playing anywhere from behind the net in his office, crashing the goalie and being a pest, a hell of a shot anywhere on the ice, and making crisp passes.  Defensively he is sound and can act like a third defender, arguably he is better at it than a lot of defenders in the SMJHL.  He has absolutely no weakness to his game.

Strength:
Geeting Open – 15
Puck Handling – 15
Offensive reads – 15

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 12
Acceleration – 12
Balance – 12

--------------------------------------------------------

Shnopple Lopple – 693 TPE – Nevada Battleborn

Voted: Most likely to get banned from Sea World for trying to rescue the wildlife.

SHL DRAFT: 28th OVERALL – Manhattan Rage

Season 70
Games: 66 – Goals: 8 – Assists: 26 -  Points: 34 - +/- (22) – PIM: 45 – Shots: 147 – BLK: 65 – Hits: 131
Season 71:
Games: 66 – Goals: 20 – Assists: 43 -  Points: 63 - +/- (45) – PIM: 59 – Shots: 204 – BLK: 70 – Hits: 121
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 13 – Assists: 48 -  Points: 61 - +/- (8) – PIM: 36 – Shots: 205 – BLK: 90 – Hits: 149
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 20 – Assists: 27 -  Points: 47 - +/- (1) – PIM: 48 – Shots: 230 – BLK: 105 – Hits: 110

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 238

A true offensive defenseman, Shnopple will become a power play QB1 at some point, if he is not already there. He has a strong shot from the point, and he is good at moving the puck whether he carries it himself or dishes with a good pass. He knows and reads both offensive and defensive plays very well and he has good speed to go with his skill set. Shnopple relies on his stick work and position on defense both of which are average maybe above average but keeps away from the rough stuff.

Strength:
Offensive Read – 14
Shooting Range – 14
Puck handling – 13

Weakness:
Checking – 5
Hitting – 5
Screening – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Still arguably my favourite name.  Shnopple has become one of the elite defenders in the SMJHL.  He is very good in both ends of the ice and can contribute a ton of points and holds opposing forwards in check.  He does not have the biggest physical game, but he is defensive sound in everything else he does.  Offensively he owns a booming shot, a great pass and can read the play surprisingly well, even to the point of knowing when to charge the net and screen if needed.

Strength:
Passing – 15
Speed – 15
Positioning – 14

Weakness:
Hitting – 8
Screening – 9
Shot Blocking – 11

---------------------------------------------------

Just-to-Buy My-Love – 727 TPE – Regina Elks

Voted: Most likely to play for the most SHL teams before he retires.

SHL DRAFT: 23rd OVERALL – Chicago Syndicate

Season 70:
Games: 66 – Goals: 10 – Assists: 27 -  Points: 37 - +/- (-14) – PIM: 22 – Shots: 121 – BLK: 35 – Hits: 144
Season 71
Games: 66 – Goals: 12 – Assists: 21 -  Points: 33 - +/- (-1) – PIM: 16 – Shots: 133 – BLK: 131 – Hits: 111
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 22 – Assists: 32 -  Points: 54 - +/- (25) – PIM: 30 – Shots: 168 – BLK: 92 – Hits: 142
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 13 – Assists: 54 -  Points: 67 - +/- (8) – PIM: 34 – Shots: 224 – BLK: 62 – Hits: 172

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE: 250

I can’t call My-Love a defensive forward, but that is where Just-To excels in his game. You see he is a great offensive forward too in a lot of aspects. While he may not put as many goals in the net, he is an amazing setup man, reads the play well, and can move with or without the puck. Shooting may be his weak point in both offensive and defense.

Strength:
Defensive Reads – 13
Positioning – 13
Passing - 13

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 9
Shooting Range – 10
Shooting Accuracy – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

This defensive forward is just the kind of compliment piece so many teams need but lack to have.  A specialist on the PK that has the ability to be an extra defender.  He will not put up a ton of goals or a lot of assists, but what he does best does not show on the score board.  He is the heart and soul player that makes life difficult for opposing players and life a little better for his own goalie and defense.  I hope he earned a few extra beers during his time in juniors paid for by his teammates.

Checking – 15
Defensive Reads – 15
Strength – 15

Shooting Accuracy – 11
Shooting Range – 11
Agility – 11

-------------------------------------------------

Scary Jerry – 650 TPE – Vancouver Whalers

Voted: Most likely to be banned from the league after throwing their own games to pay off debts owed to the mafia.

SHL DRAFT: 34th OVERALL – New England Wolfpack

Season 70: Colorado
Games: 21 – Wins – 13 – Losses: 5 – OTL: 2 – Shut Outs: 1 – GAA: 3.50 – Save Percent: .876
Season 71: Vancouver
Games: 54 – Wins – 25 – Losses: 26 – OTL: 1 – Shut Outs: 1 – GAA: 3.97 – Save Percent: .890
Season 72:
Games: 21 – Wins – 29 – Losses: 11 – OTL: 5 – Shut Outs: 2 – GAA: 3.28 – Save Percent: .893
Season 73:
Games: 40 – Wins – 26 – Losses: 8 – OTL: 1 – Shut Outs: 4 – GAA: 2.49 – Save Percent: .918

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 266

The first goalie! Scary has become a solid addition to the Raptors. A positional sound goalie, which stays within the net and rarely comes out to play the puck. Scary relies on quick reflexes and reaction to make saves with a good lower body game. Scary will continue to mature behind Grzegorz for another season giving the Raptors and Scary time to develop properly.

Strengths:
Reflexes – 13
Positioning – 13
Low Shots – 13

Weakness:
Poke Check - 7
Puck Handling – 7
Passing – 7

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Jerry was quick to update, so I am basing this on their progression in the SHL.  Jerry is a prototypical stay at home goalie.  With much of their focus on the foundation work of goaltending and less about assisting the team.  Meaning Scary does her job and does it well ensure they are not out of position.  Focusing heavily on Positioning and the 3 Rs of goaltending, then branching out to blocker, glove, and low shots.  This will give Jerry the best chance at success and helping her team win even as a SHL rookie.

Strength:
Positioning – 17
Reflexes – 17
Rebound - 16

Weakness:
Puck Handling – 7
Passing - 7
Skating – 8

----------------------------------------------------

Boho Biscuit – 646 TPE – Regina Elks

Voted: Most likely to get lost in their own home rink and be late for a game.

SHL DRAFT:  20th OVERALL – Boho Biscuit

Season 70:
Games: 49 – Goals: 5 – Assists: 18 -  Points: 23 - +/- (-13) – PIM: 40 – Shots: 64 – BLK: 55 – Hits: 69
Season 71:
Games: 66 – Goals: 3 – Assists: 16 -  Points: 19 - +/- (1) – PIM: 26 – Shots: 66 – BLK: 115 – Hits: 83
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 9 – Assists: 23 -  Points: 32 - +/- (29) – PIM: 42 – Shots: 114 – BLK: 200 – Hits: 87
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 7 – Assists: 39 -  Points: 46 - +/- (13) – PIM: 38 – Shots: 104 – BLK: 244 – Hits: 104

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 201

A defensive defender that has some offensive flair to his game. At this point Boho will not be confused or thought of as an offensive defenseman. But Boho has a great pass to get the puck out of the zone, and a strong enough shot to be utilized in the offensive end, take a look at those 5 goals. Defensively Boho is slowly becoming a monster. Still there are steps to take, but he has all the makings of a top shutdown defender of the future.

Strength:
Defensive Reads – 13
Checking – 13
Passing – 13

Weakness:
Screening – 6
Puck handling – 9
Offensive Reads – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

One of the better defensive defenders in the league, but still owning a touch of offense.  He has a very complete and punishing defensive game.  He checks well, putting himself in great positioning and dives in front of the puck as if it were a live grenade trying to save his goalie.  He is also having an amazing first pass to get that puck out of his own zone.  On the offensive side of the puck, he has a deceptively good shot, and he is getting better at reading the plays as they develop.  It will be interesting to see how he develops in the big league.

Strength:
Checking – 15
Shot Blocking – 15
Positioning – 15

Weakness:
Getting Open – 11
Puck Handling – 11
Offensive Reads – 12

-------------------------------------------------

Inactive Forever – 659 TPE – Vancouver Whalers

Voted: Most likely to retire early and become a monk

SHL DRAFT: 11th OVERALL – Hamilton Steelhawks

Season 70:
Games: 66 – Goals: 27 – Assists: 37 -  Points: 64 - +/- (5) – PIM: 26 – Shots: 193 – BLK: 24 – Hits: 185
Season 71:
Games: 66 – Goals: 33 – Assists: 50 -  Points: 83 - +/- (2) – PIM: 59 – Shots: 254 – BLK: 25 – Hits: 176
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 47 – Assists: 46 -  Points: 93 - +/- (32) – PIM: 66 – Shots: 289 – BLK: 26 – Hits: 239
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 41 – Assists: 46 -  Points: 87 - +/- (42) – PIM: 18 – Shots: 252 – BLK: 12 – Hits: 156

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE: 278

A pure goal scorer that is what Inactive brings to the table. His job is to get open and put pucks on net. He has a wicked shot and reads the offensive zone extremely well. Defensively it is a work in progress as most offensive forwards tend to be. Forever also has a step up on most of the competition with a great first step and top speed so he can blow by defenders or take the hot pass in for a break away on net.

Strength:
Offensive Read – 15
Getting Open – 15
Speed – 14

Weakness:
Checking – 5
Hitting – 5
Defensive Read – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

One of the best pure offensive weapons in this draft.  Inactive Forever can do a ton with the puck with the ability to read offensive plays develop and react accordingly with a crisp pass, moving with the puck, an incredible shot or even being able to work the front of the net.  Defensively Forever is a bit of a work in progress, not great but good for juniors, with solid checking, hitting and positioning and can read the play well.  A potential monster in the making as Inactive has the build to be a future star for Hamilton.

Strength:
Getting Open – 15
Puck Handing – 15
Offensive Reads – 15

Weakness:
Stick Checking – 11
Shot blocking – 8
Screening – 11

Might-Go IA – 639 TPE – Los Angeles Panthers

Voted: Most likely to create harmful AI and use it to take over the SHL.

SHL DRAFT: 43rd OVERALL – Los Angeles Panthers

Season 70:
Games: 66 – Goals: 9 – Assists: 19 -  Points: 28 - +/- (-9) – PIM: 40 – Shots: 98 – BLK: 79 – Hits: 86
Season 71:
Games: 66 – Goals: 7 – Assists: 36 -  Points: 43 - +/- (23) – PIM: 32 – Shots: 154 – BLK: 137 – Hits: 98
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 20 – Assists: 23 -  Points: 43 - +/- (18) – PIM: 40 – Shots: 199 – BLK: 141 – Hits: 151
Season 73:
Graduated to the SHL

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 249

Offensive Defender with a two way tendency. There isn’t a lot of holes in IA’s game. Hitting, Bravery, and general physical nature can be labeled as weaknesses. What Might-go offers a long hard shot from the point, a great pass, good offensive instincts. A solid defensive foundation with good skills not great and a great hockey mind on both sides of the ice. Might-go could go any sort of way in development, a more well round two way defender, pure offense. I would work on improving some strength and speed to win those battles for the puck.

Strength:
Shooting Range – 14
Passing – 14
Acceleration – 13

Weakness:
Hitting – 5
Strength – 11
Stick Checking – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Might-Go IA has moved up to the big leagues in season 73, so far he is looking like he is going to dedicate his game to both ends of the ice becoming a complete two way defender.  Someone once viewed as a risky choice mostly because their name scared some GMs, IA has been anything but one.  Consistent development and earning have made him really level out his game and become prepared for the next steps in their career.  The only weakness you may say to his game is a lack of hitting, not checking, but hitting and working that dirty area of the ice.  With that exception he is a very well rounded player.

Strength:
Defensive Reads – 16
Stamina – 16
Offensive Reads – 15

Weaknesses:
Hitting – 5
Balance - 13
Getting Open – 14

------------------------------------------------------

Crazy Tomato – 636 TPE – St. Louis Scarecrows

Voted: Most Likely to become the reason for a new rule.

SHL DRAFT: 82nd OVERALL – Tampa Bay Barracudas

Season 70: Yukon
Games: 32 – Goals: 5 – Assists: 9 -  Points: 14 - +/- (0) – PIM: 6 – Shots: 40 – BLK: 24 – Hits: 40
Season 71: St. Louis
Games: 66 – Goals: 21 – Assists: 36 -  Points: 57 - +/- (5) – PIM: 34 – Shots: 152 – BLK: 56 – Hits: 74
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 37 – Assists: 37 -  Points: 74 - +/- (21) – PIM: 36 – Shots: 256 – BLK: 55 – Hits: 90
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 32 – Assists: 22 -  Points: 54 - +/- (8) – PIM: 53 – Shots: 221 – BLK: 47 – Hits: 76

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 215

Tomato has developed into a solid two way playmaking center. His best skills are passing and faceoffs. And everything else is average to good depending where you look, as a whole it is pretty evenly split between defensive and offensive side of the game. The one area he could work on is bravery so he will have the confidence to make the right move when the opportunity presents itself.

Strength:
Passing – 14
Face Off – 13
Defensive Reads – 12

Weakness:
Bravery – 6
Screening – 9
Positioning – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Tomato during his time in juniors has developed nicely into an overall offensive threat, with the ability to move, shoot or pass the puck as good as anyone in the junior division.  Defensively may not be the strength of his game, he is no slouch in this department and has spent an equal effort in keeping his physical game at a good level.  There will be a lot of room to grow this coming season and a SHL coach may help him discover the rest of his game to create a true 200ft player or help him become a true offensive weapon.  As he stands now he could develop in either direction.

Strength:
Getting Open – 15
Passing – 15
Shooting Accuracy – 15

Weakness:
Screening – 11
Shooting Range – 11
Stick Checking – 12

------------------------------------------------------

Adelbert Steiner – 576  TPE – Newfoundland Berserkers

Voted: Most likely to become the best player in this draft class to never win an award.

SHL DRAFT: 17th OVERALL – New England Wolfpack

Season 70:
Games: 66 – Goals: 10 – Assists: 21 -  Points: 31 - +/- (20) – PIM: 24 – Shots: 104 – BLK: 86 – Hits: 125
Season 71:
Games: 66 – Goals: 11 – Assists: 35 -  Points: 46 - +/- (23) – PIM: 44 – Shots: 169 – BLK: 82 – Hits: 124
Season 72:
Games: 66 – Goals: 14 – Assists: 39 -  Points: 53 - +/- (15) – PIM: 44 – Shots: 183 – BLK: 107 – Hits: 131
Season 73:
Games: 66 – Goals: 12 – Assists: 29 -  Points: 41 - +/- (-25) – PIM: 83 – Shots: 198 – BLK: 125 – Hits: 100

Season 70 scouting report:

TPE – 274

One of the best two way defenders in the draft this year. Steiner has done a masterful job at honing his craft. He has put his focus in aspects of his game that are best suited to his talents, and he can be a menace in his own zone, or a QB on the powerplay and he doesn’t look out of place in either spot. If there is a weakness to his game, and there are so few, it would be foot speed, if a forward gets a step on him they can get by him, that is if they can get around him.

Strength:
Checking – 14
Defensive Reads – 13
Passing – 13

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 10
Shooting Range - 11
Shooting Accuracy – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Sadly, Stiener has fallen off in activity and is not scheduled to play in the SHL next season.  But he was a major factor for most of his junior career so we will include him here.  Stiener had the build of a prototypical two way defender and looked to have the ability to do everything offensively and defensively that was needed for success with few weaknesses to his game.  Clearly he loved the physical part of the game with strong checking and defensive work.  The only area that truly needed a little work, if any, was his speed.  If an opposing forward gained a step on him they could beat him in a foot race.

Strength:
Defensive Read – 15
Checking – 15
Offensive Read – 15

Weakness:
Acceleration – 12
Speed – 12
Agility – 13

-----------------------------------------------------

Ally Mathieson
– 575 TPE – Regina Elks

Voted: Most likely to become the best goalie in this draft class

SHL DRAFT: 55th OVERALL – Atlanta Infernos

Season 70:
Games: 43 – Wins – 17 – Losses: 20 – OTL: 2 – Shut Outs: 2 – GAA: 3.37 – Save Percent: .888
Season 71:
Games: 46 – Wins – 18 – Losses: 19 – OTL: 4 – Shut Outs: 1 – GAA: 3.47 – Save Percent: .896
Season 72:
Games: 51 – Wins – 25 – Losses: 19 – OTL: 4 – Shut Outs: 1 – GAA: 3.67 – Save Percent: .892
Season 73:
Games: 58 – Wins – 27 – Losses: 18 – OTL: 4 – Shut Outs: 1 – GAA: 3.71 – Save Percent: .902

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 224

Ally is a positionally sound goalie working on the fundamentals of her position, rebound control, recovery, and reflexes. Ally is a stay at home goalie and will not come out to play the puck or the skater, and if a bad goal happens it can affect the rest of the game for Ally. Her form needs a little work as it is average but that will come in time as the focus has been on the foundation of Ally’s play.

Strength:
Positioning – 14
Rebound – 14
Reflexes – 14

Weakness:
Mental Toughness – 5
Skating – 5
Poke Check – 5

Season 73 Scouting Report:

A star goalie in the SMJHL Ally has shown consistent development and looks to become the starting goalie for the Atlanta Inferno.  Mathieson has great positioning, a fast glove, and great base skills (the 3 Rs of goaltending, reflex, reaction, recovery), that have helped catapult her success.  Ally looks very much like a stay at home goalie rarely venturing out of the net to play the puck or offer additional assistance with her overall style and build.  This may be the best case scenario because it means Ally is rarely out of position when the puck is in her zone.

Strength:
Recovery – 16
Positioning – 15
Reflex – 15

Weakness:
Poke Check – 5
Puck Handling - 6
Passing – 8

------------------------------------------

Mick Mayhem – 562 TPE – Maine Timber

Voted: Most likely to start up their own theme restaurant chain when they retire.

SHL DRAFT: 14th OVERALL – Manhattan Rage

Games: 66 – Goals: 9 – Assists: 39 -  Points: 48 - +/- (25) – PIM: 74 – Shots: 188 – BLK: 105 – Hits: 108

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 274

This is our first defense first defender. Mick has put his focus in being on the defensive side of the puck being someone that is a pain in the ass to play against. This doesn’t mean he is offensively inept he is below average to average there. What it does mean, he is a player that opposing teams hate to play against. He hits well, is aggressive in his own end, and uses his body to keep others away from his net.

Strength:
Checking – 14
Speed – 14
Defensive Reads – 13

Weakness:
Shooting Accuracy – 9
Shooting Range – 9
Passing – 10

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Mick is developing a little differently than most defenders.  The focus is on the physical side of the puck, creating someone who is difficult to play against.  Strong, fast, and hard to knock off balance with the ability to turn on a dime.  As an overall style he leans more towards the defensive side of the puck with offensive tendencies as he can read the offensive plays as well as he reads the defensive ones but lacks the complete skill package in the offensive side.  He does own a sharp pass, but that is the high end of his offensive skills.  It will be interesting to see where and how he develops down the line in Manhattan.

Strength:
Speed – 15
Defensive Reads – 14
Offensive Reads – 14

Weakness:
Getting Open – 10
Shooting Accuracy – 10
Shooting Range – 10

Games: 66 – Goals: 20 – Assists: 33 -  Points: 53 - +/- (-7) – PIM: 28 – Shots: 157 – BLK: 54 – Hits: 138

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 254

Jordan is an aggressive all around forward, his strength is in his overall good to great offensive skills and being brave enough to pull the trigger when needed, something a lot of Rookies lack. On the defensive side he is average as a whole but offers few gaps in his game. He’s also one of the few players willing to drop the gloves, even though he couldn’t find a dance partner this year. He is going to be a pest for years to come to opposing teams.

Strength:
Getting Open – 13
Shooting Accuracy – 13
Speed – 13

Weakness:
Shooting Range – 10
Shot Blocking – 10
Checking – 10

Season 73 Scouting Report:

A very competent two way forward that does not excel in any one area of the game but has no weakness in any area.  Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, Jordan has gone MIA and has not made the move to the SHL.  Hopefully I am wrong.  Jordan has the kind of build that teams love as he is a useable member in any situation you can count on to be responsible to hold or build a lead upon.  With few weaknesses it is the physical end he shies away from skipping out on hitting and shot blocking.  Here is hoping we see him again soon.

Strength:
Defensive Read - 15
Scoring Accuracy – 14
Positioning – 14

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 11
Hitting – 5
Shooting Range – 11

--------------------------------------------------------

SHL DRAFT: 25th OVERALL – Manhattan Rage

Season 70:

Season 70 scouting report:

TPE – 270

Erik is a two way forward that excels in the offensive aspect of the game. Offensively all of his stats lean towards great, but nothing stands out as elite among the draft class, which is not a knock at how well he is built offensively as there is no weakness to his game in the opponent’s zone, he can, skate, shoot, and pass, all are top notch. Defensively he has a solid build with the only lacking area being shot blocks, as it evident on the stat line.

Strength:
Shooting Accuracy – 13
Speed – 13
Passing – 13

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 5
Hitting – 9
Screening – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

I had a lot of high hopes with Erik, that he would be a long term member here in the SHL.  I loved his build and the name of his player, reminding me a Viking warrior.  Unfortunately, Erik has gone inactive and has not been called up to the SHL at this point.  His build is of a two way forward that does not do the dirty work of blocking shots or working the hard corners.  Still he can be used everywhere on the ice with a good offensive game and a solid defensive backing making a tough player in all three zones.

Strength:
Puck Handling – 15
Offensive Read – 15
Speed – 14

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 5
Hitting – 9
Screening – 9

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 250

The right winger is a good all-around forward that focuses mostly on the offensive side of the game. Known for his clean crisps passes and puck handling the small (5’9”) forward is not afraid to mix it up when the time comes. He can play an aggressive game in his checking and has been known to drop the gloves on occasion not allowing anyone to intimidate him. (A bit of Napoleon Complex?)

Strengths:
Passing – 14
Puck Handling – 14
Checking – 12

Weakness:
Defensive Reads – 10
Hitting – 10
Stick Checking – 10

Season 73 Scouting Report:

I am not sure what happened here with Matt.  He had done the work and built a ton of TPE, but it was never applied to his player.  He will be a case of what could have been.  As an overall build he was a good two way forward with a nearly even build across the board.  Literally no weakness to his game…except fighting, but at 5’9” he shouldn’t have even considered fighting.  He is not with us, and I feel like it has been a while since he last played.  Hopefully he comes back.

Strength:
Passing – 14
Puck Handling – 14
Stamina – 14

Weakness:
Face Off – 12
Balance – 12
Shot Blocking – 12

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 250

Number one shutdown defense man. I gave Bob the Number one because he is the only player so far that has improved his Stamina. Defensively he is sound with a great positional game, reads the plays well and can react to them as needed. Bob also is good at moving the puck out of the danger areas with a good pass or can carry it if needed on his own. Just don’t ask Bob to shoot the puck.

Strength:
Stamina - 15
Positioning – 14
Defensive Reads – 13

Weakness:
Agility – 8
Shooting Range – 9
Shooting Accuracy – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

This is just sad in some ways. Everyone knew Bob was only going to play juniors and move on, and he has.  I wish him the best and can’t wait to see him come back for another round of junior hockey in the future.  Bob had built an amazing two way defender and was part of an impressive roster that never won the cup.  I am not sure what his goal was, but I hope next time he gets there.  With few weaknesses only coming from unnecessary areas of the ice he was a great addition to a very successful Vancouver team.

Strength:
Defensive Read – 15
Checking – 15
Puck Handling – 15

Weakness:
Screening – 5
Shooting Range – 9
Agility – 10

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 215

Morgan might be the fastest player in the draft when they hit top speed. The amount of focus in this one aspect this early in their SMJHL career is INCREDIBLE. Morgan is also one of the elite passers in the draft class. Everything else is average or below average in their current build. Morgan could be a monster when paired with the right person as they could become one of the best pure passers in the game.

Strengths:
Speed – 17
Passing – 15
Faceoffs – 10

Weakness:
Bravery – 5
Puck Handling – 9
Shooting accuracy – 9.

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Morgan is the story of disciplined success.  A slow consistent build has produced a great player during his junior career.  A late pick and a bit of a learning curve has slowly been producing more and more.  A speed, pass first, face off artist has become the hallmark to his game.  There is a lot of growing still to come, but with this consistent growth Morgan looks to become a consistent contributor at the SHL level with few weaknesses to his game, which could work out very well for the growth plan in Manhattan.

Strength:
Speed – 17
Passing – 15
Face Offs – 14

Weakness:
Shooting Range – 11
Shot Blocking – 11
Shooting Accuracy – 12

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 207

Tough as nails Crystal is the enforcer for the Kelowna Knights. She is aggressive, loves to hit, and brave enough to drop the gloves at any time. She has grown since the draft and become a solid puck moving enforcer. Her defensive game is starting to form but needs to work on her understanding defensive reads better to accel in this area of her game. Look to her to clear the way and move the puck for her teammates.

Strengths:
Passing – 13
Screening – 13
Hitting – 13

Weakness:
Stick Check – 7
Agility – 7
Defensive Reads – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Crystal’s goal is to be a pain in the ass pest for the opposing team.  She wants to hit, fight and create headaches in front of the net.  That is clearer than anything else.  She has gone in a different direction than everyone else and with that direction she could become a star in her own right filling in a specific role of causing chaos.  Perhaps the best screener in the SMJHL with the ability to read an offensive play developing she knows how to make the most of her unique skills.

Strength:
Screenin.  16
Offensive Reads – 15
Stamina – 14

Weakness:
Stick Checking – 11
Shot Blocking – 11
Speed – 12

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 234

Net Man has been building an overall solid build, there is no weakness in his game, but nothing is a standout in turn. Relying on a solid foundation to his goaltending playing positionally sounds hockey with good rebound and reflex control. Net Man’s best aspect may be how mentally tough he is, he doesn’t let a bad goal shake him and he is ready to go at moment’s notice for Quebec City.

Strength:
Mental Toughness – 12
Rebound – 12
Positioning – 12

Weakness:
Passing – 10
Skating – 10
Poke Check – 10

Season 73 Scouting Report:

I swear the legend just continues to grow.  During his time in Quebec, he became the face of the franchise and at this point I am not sure where his future goes too.  He has not been assigned to his big club yet.  As for skills he was pretty evenly spread out on his abilities which allowed him to help out his teammates moving around the crease and playing the puck a bit better than most junior goalies.  His foundational skills were solid making him the most well rounded goalie in junior.

Strength:
Reflex – 14
Rebound – 14
Positioning – 14

Weakness:
Skating – 10
Poke Check – 11
Puck Handling – 11

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 236

David is a gifted offensive defenseman, specialized in moving the puck. He has the skills to move the puck himself or make crisp pass to get the puck up out of the zone or a beautiful setup for a one timer. Defensively David reads plays well and has an average defensive skill set, in every key area. Calling David, a two-way defender wouldn’t be wrong, but at this time he does lean more towards an offensive type.

Strengths:
Passing – 13
Puck Handling – 13
Defensive Reads – 13

Weakness:
Shooting Range – 11
Checking – 11
Shot Blocking – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

It looks like David has joined the bottom of this list and gone inactive over his last season or so.  A solid contributor during his time with Colorado.  As a two way defender he leaned more on his offensive game than the defensive side of the puck with a good shot, fantastic puck handling skills and a good pass.  Defensively he was a good positional player but lacked big hits or putting his body on the line to stop the puck.

Strength:
Speed – 15
Puck Handling – 15
Offensive Reads – 14

Weakness:
Hitting – 11
Shot Blocking – 12
Strength – 12

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 276

Ok, let me start with, I have no idea where all these hits came from. Stat line wise Andre is average. Overall, Andre focuses on shooting the puck and does an amazing job at it. One of the best natural shooters in this draft. He has an incredible first step and takes offs like a rocket, and his top speed is ridiculously fast, if he has a step on a defender he is on a break-away. He is average on the defensive side, and average physically. A very solid base, as a whole.

Strengths:
Shooting Accuracy – 15
Acceleration – 14
Speed – 15

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 5
Bravery – 5
Checking – 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

The winger never reached his full potential and that could be why he is left unclaimed when it has come time to take the step forward in his career.  Andre will never be known as the best offensive forward or even the best defensive forward.  But he was an amazing physical beast and work out warrior.  He owned amazing speed and stamina and could be relied on to play hard right until the last minute of any game.  Unfortunately, his skill set was average in all other areas of the ice.

Strength:
Shooting Accuracy – 15
Skating – 15
Stamina – 15

Weakness:
Shot Blocking - 6
Checking – 10
Hitting – 10

Games: 66 – Goals: 13 – Assists: 18 -  Points: 31 - +/- (-4) – PIM: 42 – Shots: 121 – BLK: 25 – Hits: 133

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 195

This offensively gifted new addition to the league has a good shot and can shoot from anywhere with great range for a forward and good accuracy. He reads offensive plays well and can moves the puck well with good passing and puck handling skills. His speed is above average, and he is not a liability in his own end, but he does not excel there either. It is still early in his junior career, and it will be interesting to see how he develops.

Strength:
Shooting Accuracy – 13
Offensive Reads – 13
Puck handling – 13

Weakness:
Bravery – 5
Shot Blocking – 5
Screening – 11

Season 73 Scouting Report:

This towering defender had a good offensive build with some solid defensive tendencies.  Once again, he has not made the cut in the SHL world.  He was most dangerous in the opposing teams zone firing heavy shots and moving the puck well.  On the defensive side of the puck, he read the play well, but was above average in the physical side of battling for the puck and would rarely lay down to block shots.  An above average defender we will remember for his time in juniors.

Strength:
Getting Open – 14
Passing – 14
Offensive Reads – 14

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 5
Hitting – 12
Shooting Range – 12

----------------------------------------------------

Kyle Baretto – 374 TPE – St. Louis Scarecrows

Voted: Most likely to break a league record for wins…

SHL DRAFT: 46th OVERALL – Minnesota Monarchs

Season 70:

Season 73:
Games: 48 – Wins – 20 – Losses: 20 – OTL: 2 – Shut Outs: 2 – GAA: 3.90 – Save Percent: .898

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 190

When Kyle is on, he is on, with two shut outs the most out of any rookie goalie. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened to often this season. Kyle has an average build across the board with the strength of his game in positioning, reflexes and he is mentally tough. He is not afraid to play the puck but that can catch him out of position. Kyle will have a good amount of work ahead of him as he continues to develop, the good news he has a good mentor to help him over the next few seasons in Kay Lee.

Strengths:
Positioning – 12
Reflexes – 12
Mental Toughness – 12

Weakness:
Skating – 9
Puck Handling – 9
Recovery – 10

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Still alive and kicking Kyle has made the jump to Minnesota and will be filling in as the team’s back up goalie this year.  A solid goalie foundation focusing on the 3 Rs of goaltending and being positional sound will allow him to find success in the big league even with little growth over the last few seasons.  If Barretto is looking to have a long career in the SHL he will need to start focusing on continued growth, even in his major categories as he will find it difficult to keep up against the stronger competition and harder shots.

Strength:
Reflex – 14
Positioning – 14
Rebound – 14

Weakness:
Skating – 9
Puck Handling – 9
Passing – 10

----------------------------------------------------

Bear Trapp – 327 TPE – Maine Timber

Voted: Most likely to fake an injury to get extra rest days.

SHL DRAFT: 35th OVERALL – Atlanta Inferno

Season 70 :

Season 72:

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 235

More of a puck mover then a goal scorer Bear Trapp is playmaking specialist. Defensively average for a forward. The biggest and best aspect of Bear Trapp, they’re an athlete, truly the strongest aspect of their game is how good they are at physical aspect of their player. The biggest weakness is there is no real aspect that really jumps out as elite, just good.

Strengths:
Strength – 14
Passing – 13
Offensive Reads – 13

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 9
Shooting Accuracy – 10
Defensive Reads – 10

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Still on an active roster for season 73 Bear Trapp had not been on the ice since season 71.  He has a solid build for a winger at the junior level focusing on his physical gifts to carry him through a game.  His offensive and defensive skills however are lacking, and this would be a major reason to him not finding a home in the SHL at this point in time.  Still there is a hope he could return and once again become a force in the SHL world.

Strength:
Balance – 14
Strength – 14
Skating – 14

Weakness:
Shot Blocking – 9
Face Off – 9
Shooting Range – 10

Merle Van Nistelrooy – 309 TPE – Maine Timber

Voted: Most Likely to succeed in another sport.

Season 73:

Season 70 Scouting Report:

TPE – 212

Merle is a two-way defender, being good at both aspects of the game but not necessarily great at either one. There are aspects that are better than others, Merle is good at moving the puck, and can rip a shot. Merle’s stick work without the puck is fantastic. Not excelling in either end of the game is not hurting Merle’s stats, and with another season or two of grooming Merle could become a premier two way defender.

Strength:
Puck Handling - 13
Shooting Accuracy - 13
Stick Checking – 13

Weakness:
Passing – 9
Shooting Range – 9
Shot Blocking - 9

Season 73 Scouting Report:

Our final alumni we will be looking at in the yearbook, Merle will be continuing their journey into the SHL, but faces a big hill to climb if he is going to be locking down a job for long.  He has an average build for a two way defender and needs to spend more time honing his game in order to be effective in the big league.  Still the making of a reliable player is there and could become a surprise finish to the Season 71 draft class.

Strength:
Acceleration – 14
Speed – 14
Strength – 14

Weakness:
Getting Open - 9
Shooting Rating – 10
Passing – 12

-----------------------------------------------------------------

There we have it Season 71’s draft class, a class to remember full of future stars and huge accomplishments.  We wish everyone the absolute best as you take the next steps in your career in the SHL.
