The time had come upon the Class of Season 79, the drafts were being listed and the energy is strong. The lights and sirens flash as the next pick was chosen...

   

"Pick forty-seven, Nevada Battleborn will be selecting and they'll be taking Badger Hennessy."

Not that anyone was expecting an actual Honey badger to grace the stage, nor to snuffle along at an impressive pace to put on the jersey.

Be what it may, but the SMJHL has just signed their first honey badger onto the ice.

There might just have to be adjustments made to the size of the jersey but as Badger Hennessy would put it: "The honeybadger don't give a f--k" (The media have bleeped the word out cautiously) as Badger makes his way to the locker room of his new team.

A talking honey badger that will also be the center skater for Nevada Battleborn.

What a night.

Badger is a long way from Moosejaw, Canada and has joined a team in the extremes of Las Vegas, Nevada but from what little he had given to the press - it seems that he is more than overjoyed and excited to have made the cut as one of the newest prospects to join the ranks of the SMJHL, donning the jersey number 42.

We look forward to catching up with Badger in the near future to see how they have settled into the team and chased off a few lions on the ice.
