Deep Dive 1 - History of NL 62-64

Good morning SHL, SMJHL, and everyone else reading this.
Today we will be looking at the legendary run of the Newfoundland Berserkers streak of amazing seasons and cup wins from seasons 62-64 (3 Total seasons) That's right, a staggering 3 cup runs and wins back to back for three seasons. It really is quite an incredible accomplishment not only for the players, but everyone in the organization and really deserves a round of applause. In season 62, believe it or not they placed third in the regular season, although it was incredibly close in the standings, the Newfoundland Berserkers actually had the most impressive goal differential in the league, managing an impressive differential of +113, with the first place regular season team actually coming in at only a +76. While that's not a huge difference, it is quite a surprising regular season turnout seeing how close these teams truly were (Vancouver and Anchorage both finished with 96 points, Newfoundland with 94) Although both teams were incredibly close to them in the standings, and arguably in a better position to win the four star cup, In the end Newfoundland Found a way to win in dominating fashion, only dropping one game on the road to the cup. Season 63 was another great year for the Newfoundland Berserkers, (Arguably one of their best ever) But that's just my totally unbiased opinion. Not only did they dominate the league with a staggering 58 wins, they did it in commanding fashion, sporting a +213 goal differential over the rest of the league, with the Maine Timber having a record matching Newfoundland of season past, of +119. They also boasted 118 points in the regular season, While the Maine timber only had 101. While still impressive, it was not enough to face down the stacked Newfoundland Berserkers. The cup run for NL was arguably harder than last years decidedly easy cup run. While the differences in the standings were quite a bit larger in comparison than the finals of the past year, NL Managed to still dominate in a slightly lesser fashion (Dropping two games on the road to the cup) which is surprising considering their dominant nature compared to the last season, but not shocking as every team can have a bad game or two. Season 64 for NL was once again a dominant performance in the regular season for NL, laying out another great performance of 57 wins, 115 points and a +184 goal differential. The second place team in the league was the Colorado Raptors, with 44 wins and 97 points in the regular season and only a +77 goal differential. Newfoundland was clearly quite a step ahead of everyone else in the league, for the third season in a row. Would the playoffs be any different this year? It didn't seem likely. NL pressed forward with the playoffs and yet another chance at the four-star cup. (Three-peat anyone) Well to the shock of absolutely no one (Ok maybe some people) NL managed to win the cup yet again, this time dropping 3 games on the road to the final, with yet another cup final sweep.
