The offseason is closing in on us, and we are almost at the SMJHL Draft.

Graphic Option: Show us a picture of your player, doing what they'd do if they weren't a hockey player. Reward: $500,000, for doing one of the options. Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S79 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S80) are eligible for this bounty. Deadline: Sunday, September 29th at 11:59 PST.

Having grown up exceptionally poor in the streets of Derry, Ireland, Quazon Brosonchi always accidentally found himself the leader of the pack. As a school aged child, the mistreated, the hungry, the often forgotten children of the streets would follow Quazon around, asking him what they should do next. Did they see a glimmer of intelligence in his eye that gave them hope for a better future? Quazon was indeed both sharp and cunning, and could always find a way to provide for all of their collective needs. The children of the streets were not wrong to stay close to Quazon Brosonchi.
If Quazon Brosonchi hadn't found the sport of hockey, his life would be filled to the brim with misconduct, shenanigans, and, you guessed it, tomfoolery. His organizing and scheming ways would have continued without falter. It's not too difficult to imagine what his life would have looked like and which painful events may have occurred on the path towards his rise into power and respect: Perhaps he would have clashed with a Jewish whiskey maker. Perhaps his older brother would have anger issues that ultimately leads to his demise. Perhaps he would feud with the entire country of Russia. Perhaps, even, one day he would become a respected Senator. All we can do, however, is speculate, because fortunately for Quazon Brosonchi, he found the outlet for his desire to grow in power and respect through the wonderful sport of hockey; Lucky for us, we do not have the misfortune of witnessing his life play out otherwise. Moderators Cozy Connoisseur Code: Written Option: What would your player be doing now, if he or she hadn't pursued a career in hockey? (250 words min.) If Kim Chaewon never pursued a career in hockey, she would continue living the life of being a k-pop idol with the group Le Sserafim. The group debuted back in 2022 and ever since has been gaining more popularity. The five girl group consisting of Chaewon, Sakura, Yunjin (fellow SHLer), Kazuha and Eunchae recently had a comeback for their "Crazy" album. In the world of k-pop there is little to no downtime since there are constant practices, shows, performances, media appearances and if lucky your company will let you be part of the creative process for your group's next comeback (writing songs, coming up with concepts etc). As the leader of Le Sserafim, Kim Chaewon bears a lot of responsibility and trust from her group members. With the music industry, most artists don't see success or even get the chance to make it big. However with Le Sserafim they are looking to dominate internationally and even have a partnership with the NBA by being "Friends of the NBA". This is just one example of how Le Sserafim is tapping into the global market by being ambassadors of the NBA which is one of the most popular sports around the world. If the SHL ever wanted to partner up with Le Sserafim, I'm sure that would be a great partnership since these two worlds could collide and bring more eyes onto the SHL and vice versa with Le Sserafim. Chaewon is going to continue doing her best as the leader of Le Sserafim and giving it her all whenever she performs for her fans. (263 words)

Mick Geno is just one of the fellas, likes to get down and dirty on a night out, parties like a wild animal and likes rip a zyn here and there for the buzz. Mick Geno is a hockey guy, grew up playing trip and loved chillin with the boys, crackin brews on the road. Mick Geno shivers at the thought of not being able to play hockey, its what he lives and breathes.
If Mick Geno didn’t get his chance in the J, Mick Geno would be a crane operator. Sure , as all contruction men do he would start at the bottom rung, sweeping nails and such, but its Mick Geno ladies and gentleman, he gets to the top at some point. Theres only so much climbing Mick Geno can do. In his spare time he changes lightbulbs on the power towers. Guys an expert at climbing. Mick Geno would reminisce on his time playing hockey, a lot, and his co-workers would fuckin despise him for it. “Shut up Mick, no one gives a fuck” says , like, each of them at some point. But Mick Geno never stops. Thats also partly why they sent him up in the crane, so they wouldnt have to hear him anymore. Its reasonable, guy wont stop. Mick Geno would settle down in his hometown of Nova Scotia and enjoy the fishing with his buddies in his sparetime. They were also sick of his hockey stories. He would also have more time to spend with his family, if they still want to. I promise hes a good guy, I just cant emphasize enough how much he wont stop talking about what could’ve been. (282)

If my player, Colton Paraygeko, was not in the league, he would be the director of a hospital after a short-lived career in boxing. After repeated boxer fractures and neglecting help, Colton tragically had to have his hand amputated and replaced with a hook. His sustained injury made him recognize who the real heroes are. Not athletes, not actors, or musicians, but the front-line workers who sacrifice so much to help those in need. After getting his undergrad in social work and going to graduate school for business administration at Eton college, Colton started working at hospital with dreams of becoming a hospital director ensure the nurses and staff are paid fair wages and working conditions that exceed the standard.
In Colton’s free time, he loves hanging out with his wife and two kids, Bell and Jack. He is the coach of Jack’s baseball team and volunteers at a local pet shelter where he fosters some animals when he can. He recently got his boater’s license and purchased a used boat from craigslist called Jolly Rancher, the sister ship of Jolly Roger. Colton’s latest journey has been overcoming his fear of clocks and crocs (the animal, although the clogs are pretty scary as well). Through cognitive behavioral therapy, he can now handle digital clocks and is currently working on analog clocks. He intends to go to Louisiana this coming summer and wrestle an 8 foot alligator. Though his biggest fears are the renowned cuckoo and grandfather clocks. His goal is to have a clock in every room in his home by the year 2026. *This may have been loosely inspired by Peter Pan.
