We are back with another edition of the Texas Renegades team awards. In Season 78, the Renegades enjoyed more success as they won the Central division with a record of 48-15-3 for 99 points. In the playoffs, it was heartbreak for Texas as they lost in 7 games to the eventual champion Los Angeles Panthers. Today,w e take a look at the individual successes of many of the Texas Renegades players.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Sharpshooter" Award
(most goals this season)
In Texas, a sharpshooter is a name given to one who is quick with their pistols or highly skilled in shooting their weapon! We of course have a player who is highly skilled at shooting pucks with their stick and thus they are the Texas Renegades “Sharpshooter”.

Your Texas Renegade "Sharpshooter" this season is:
Chris Valentine
Valentine is no stranger to these awards, but it is not every day you see a converted defenseman win the shartpshooter award! It was a great season for Valentine, as he paced all Renegades with 51 goals in Season 78. This was a career best for Valentine by a wide margin, as he finished with 36 goals the two previous seasons. A well deserved sharpshooter award for the player who found the back of the net 51 times this season!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renegades The Texas Renegades "Wheel Horse" Award Renegades
(most assists this season)
In Texas, a right hand man or pal is known as a wheel horse! Given that this award is for most assists, I think we can all call that guy our right hand man!

Your Texas Renegades "Wheel Horse" this season is:
Marton Diehm

After winning the sharpshooter award last season, Marton Diehm decided to go for a different award this season. As a result, Diehm finished with a team leading 64 assists on the season to lead the team and win the Wheel Horse award! The 64 assists were close to a career best for Diehm, and he used the 64 assists to combine with 30 goals on the season.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renegades The Texas Renegades "Ranahan" Award  Renegades
(most points this season)
Another name for the best cowboy or most experienced cowboy is Ranahan. Given that this award is going to the player who got the most points in a season, it’s fitting to call that person the top cowboy or “Ranahan”!

Your Texas Renegades "Ranahan" this season is:
Chris Valentine

Valentine was not just a goal scorer this season, as evident by the 54 assists to go along with the 51 goals. This balance led to a team leading 105 points on the season to earn Valentine the Ranahan award! Valentine was everywhere in the offensive zone for Texas, and the high point total combining both goals and assists proved it. It was a tremendous offensive season for Valentine!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Fantobens Force" Award
(most hits this season)
Named after precious Joseph Fantobens, this award goes to the player with the most hits in a season. Joseph Fantobens was known for getting out there and crushing the body. For four straight seasons (S60-S63) Fantobens had over 300 hits a season. During those seasons he combined for a total of 1281 hits which is absolutely insane. To remember those bone crushing hits, we have named this award after him!

The Texas Renegade earning this seasons "Fantobens Force" award is:
Marton Diehm

Now the third season in a row, Diehm is your Fantobens Force award winner! Diehm is feared, not just because he can score, but because he hits hard too. This season, Diehm tallied 176 hits to lead the Renegades by a wide margin. The ability to score on offense while knocking opposing players off the puck is what truly makes Diehm a force to be reckoned with!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Puoli Pulverizer" Award
(most shots blocked)
Puolivalmiste played an integral part in Texas’s success. They organized and managed the team into a force and led them to two challenge cup victories, season 59 and season 62. Puoli is a very well respected user in the SHL and is an absolute wealth of knowledge. The “Puoli Pulverizer” Award goes to the player with the most shots blocked, a stat well loved by GMs and their players sacrifice the body to win the game!

The Texas Renegade earning the "Puoli Pulverizer" Award is:
Hodor!

Hodor!
You knew this was coming, right? With 313 blocked shots this season, Hodor once again wins the Hodor..I mean Puoli Pulverizer award! There is not much more to be said for this beast of a player. As always, the Texas teammates of Hodor are very thankful for all that he does every season and we are very happy to continue handing this award out to him!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Buckaroo" Award  Renegades
(most underrated)
This is a new award starting in S70! Replacing the Texas “Varmint” award for most penalty minutes, we wanted to have an award for a player on the team who performed very well but also may have flown under the radar. Everyone loves a Buckaroo!

The Texas Renegades "Buckaroo" this season is:
Guy Incognito
Defenseman Guy Incognito was a highly touted prospect for Texas, and he has made the most of his early opportunities in the league. In Season 78, you may not have heard Incognito's name as much as some of the other Renegades, but make no mistake, he was everywhere for this team. Incognito finished with 37 points and an extremely impressive +/- of 39. Despite being young into his career, Texas trusted Incognito and his play was a huge reason why this Renegades team was able to make the conference finals.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renegades The Texas Renegades "Drag Rider" Award  Renegades
(top performing Goaltender)
This award is also the winner of the coolest award name. A Drag Rider is a cowboy who rides at the rear of the herd. Given that the goalie sits at the back, they are indeed the Texas Renegade “Drag Rider”.

The Texas Renegades "Drag Rider" this season is:
Anthony Dionne
No surprise here! Anthony Dionne has become a household name in Texas and around the league. In Season 78, he continued his stellar play finishing with a record of 34-11-3 to go along with a 2.99 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. Dionne always plays against the league's top teams, and he continues to be the backbone to the Texas Renegades success each season.

That’s it for awards this season! It was another fun and successful regular season for Texas, but another heartbreaking playoff loss remains on our minds. We look forward to running it back this season, and hope that one of the awards we can talk about along with these is a cup championship. Until then, go Renegades!
