I had the opportunity to sit down with fellow draft prospect Jonny Hockey, a goalie in this season 81 junior draft to ask some questions about their player, the warrants of cake vs pie, and opinions around nhl players.
1. How would you describe yourself as a player? Jonny Hockey is a technically sound goalie who is driven to not only stop pucks but to win games as well. He’s a very outgoing player that is always down to talk hockey or have some laughs over a few cold pops. 2. What NHL player do you model yourself after? I have modelled my player off Carey Price. The style of his play as well as his determination seemed like good NHL comparable, however, Jonny’s skills will be personalized to him. 3. What are your priorities in your development? I’d like to focus on Jonny’s physical abilities to start, then working towards ensuing his mentals are up to par. I’ll also try to focus on enjoying my time in the SMJHL as it looks like players usually only spend 4 years and then they’re gone. 4. Do you have any stat goals for your first season? I have some lofty goals for Jonny. Save% .900+, 1+ shutouts, lower than 3.75 GAA and 20 wins. As I said, these are lofty goals but if you’re aiming, may as well aim high. 5. Rank the following, cake, ice cream, cookies, pie Ice Cream, Cookies (just not choc. Chip), Pie, Cake. 6. Favorite team logo in the junior league? The Thunder Bay Walleye is my favorite, I think. The purple and orange go well together, and I like that the walleye looks somewhat upset. 7. Most overrated NHL player and why Juraj Slafkovsky. First overall pick that just hasn’t seemed to get going at all. Lane Hutson is better already. 8. Most underrated NHL player and why Bobby McMann. Guy has 17 rips in 46gms. Better goal pace than last year and is on like a 1.3/yr deal 9. Any story behind your player’s name? No story unfortunately. It’s my manager name for Game Plan Hockey Manager, my discord name and I figured I would keep the name going. Thank you doe your time Jonny and good luck in the draft! |
