Rising Tide #15

Good day, simulation hockey fans. It is I, Luffy Richard, former defenseman for the Toronto North Stars, bringing you the latest news about your San Diego Tidal.
The Tidal enter today down two to zero against the Timber Maine who managed a blow out in game one where they were outplayed everywhere but the scoreboard. The Tidal are looking to even the series, but the Timber don’t feel like sharing in any playoff glory. The first game of the second day of the playoffs was a defensive textbook performance by the Timber as they won the game three to zero to put the series at three to zero, the most dangerous of leads. Even more ominous is the score reflecting the state of this first round series. Shots were twenty-eight to twenty-three in favor of the Timber, with Emiliano being a minus-one with two giveaways. Not exactly the performance you want to have when your team is counting on you. And it is definitely not a performance you want to have in front of your home crowd for their first taste of playoff action this season. The second game was a much better result, score wise, as the Tidal took the game three to two keeping their playoff hopes alive. The shots were forty-three to thirty-one in favor of the Timber, but Cauliflower Pizza stood on their head to keep the series alive! Emiliano had two blocked shots, probably by accident, and a giveaway so he has really disappeared these past two games when the Tidal need him most! Excuse me, I gotta go wake up my roommate and remind him that this is the darn playoffs! And, not to get all Carrie Bradshaw, just like that the San Diego Tidal’s post season is over in five games as the Maine Timber put the boots to the Tidal seven to one. (stares into the void and takes a long drink of. . .tea) Shots were forty-one to twenty-four in favor of the Timber who went on a rampage to end this series. They even out hit the Tidal thirty-one to twenty-six. This was the exclamation mark on a dominant series and my roommate once again only half showed up. In this final game, Emiliano had an assist for his second and last point of these playoffs. He also took a penalty, had two hits, and two takeaways, so I guess he had some heart out there, but it would have been nice to see a hat trick or something from my roommate. I guess it is back to our one bedroom apartment where I sleep on the balcony on an army cot we found in the dumpster. Ramen and rice and beans all off season. . .I don’t want the season to end here, but this is ta-ta for now Tidal fans. For the last time in season eighty-two, this is Luffy Richard bidding you all a farewell, though keep your eyes peeled for more articles by me in the San Diego Current. I do team spotlights and cooking up some other nonsensical fun for the offseason, and we have an expansion draft to look forward to! So with that, Luffy out! ![]() |
