Miller Impresses At Olympics
#1

Team World had a dismal time at the Olympics, which was what they expected, Manager Brendan Gibbon has reiterated that point from the start, but that's not to say there weren't bright spots. Here at the end of group play, with Team World eliminated we'll take a look at one of their prospects stats compared to his fellow draftees while the comparison can still be made.

Despite his name not popping up in the media as often as other s10 eligible NWJHL prospects, current Team World Alternate Captain Rehn Miller did something that no other draft eligible prospect has successfully done: Shown his abilities on ice with no major weaknesses. It's easy to overhype players when they haven't actually showcased their abilities to the countless GM's and scouts who have most certainly been following the games at Lake Placid, but Miller not only put on an offensive showcase of his talent, but was statistically one of the best defensive forward prospects as well. All the while playing with linemates that were themselves prospects, whereas other prospects performed worse while playing with elite talent.

We'll start with the obvious breakdown; point totals.
Through his first 7 games Miller tallied 4 goals of his own, and assisted on 3 more, not known as a natural goal scorer he was filling the net with aplomb, and despite his linemates combining for just 2 goals, Miller was able to put up a point total that lead all prospects with only 1 point being boosted by the extra man. He was shooting with confidence out there, leading all prospects in shots with 34, while his shooting percentage was an average 11.76%, the ease in which he was creating space for himself was astounding. In fact, Miller was increadibly poised with the puck, having only 1 giveaway, and 5 takeaways also put him at the head of the prospect pack in the Give / Take ratio.

Next we look at the biggest surprise for people looking at Miller, his hits.
In the first couple games Miller looked like a man on a mission, in one game having 7 hits, while he did slow down quite a bit as his tournament went on, his 17 overall hits were 2nd amongst all prospective forwards that this journalist is aware of to only his linemate, Shawn Swerin with 19. Miller himself only got knocked out of the play 21 times, which is right around the average.

When it comes to Face-offs, Miller had the 6th best percentage in the entire tournament at 55.88%(out of 170 draws taken).

Situationally, Miller was used in all possible roles, while not listed officially on the Penalty Kill, he still spent about 50% of his special teams time with a man down.

While the rest of their careers are obvious question marks, one thing is for certain, at this point in time, Miller has easily out performed every other prospect when playing against the SHL Elite.
Miller will easily reach his potential of being one of the top forwards of his class in the SHL.

Nah, I just didn't proof-read, I'm a writer IRL, so 10 minutes for 500 words is cake.

Time =/= effort. I could spend 3 hours thinking of an article idea, only to post "Donini smells", That would be a lack of effort.

I'd like to play on a team with Schultz, I'd also like the challenge of playing AGAINST Schultz. But most of all, I'd just like to play.

I think all of the prospects whining finally worked, either that or we're within 5 of having enough to actually do the draft.

This season is going to be great, especially all the bantering and trashtalk that will pop up in the articles.
