I made this for the SHL point challenge but I am a NWJHL player. I do not want my hard work go to waste thus I will allow you privileged souls to read this piece of garbage of an article. This was a rough draft that I am very unmotivated to finish because I realized it was for naught.

The Toronto North Stars
Stars

After a rough three year rebuilding process, the Stars seem to be ready to start challenging for the cup. It's going to be a difficult road as they are in a very competitive conference. With players like Ben Wong, Mike Ochocinco, Patrick Pelletir, Rashad Thomas, Yousuf Sherbluk, Grigori Pajari and Phil Schenn, there is a possibility for a deep playoff run. Adding a stud like Smirnov Light who was part of the Falcons championship winning team in S9 will bring a lot of hope for the fans of the Tornoto North Stars. General Manager JJ Krever has constructed a team to his liking and will see what he can do this up and coming season. I think that if they put it all together, they could end up with having good results on the ice and make the playoffs, maybe even go for a championship.

While their starting Goaltender is suspended, there will be a chance to see how deep they are in between the pipes. For the next few games while he is serving his suspension the North Stars have to play a defensive game first and fore most. A reliable offense is a must on any team trying to find a way to reach that holy grail we call the cup. Upon reaching the playoffs this year, and yes, they will make the playoffs at the very least, there will be a test to see how far this team has really come. The North Stars are one of the teams that I will have my eye on this season.

The Minnesota Chiefs
Chiefs

The most shocking news for the Chiefs this offseason is losing their face of the franchise, Brodie Witzel, to conference rivals the Hamilton Steelhawk. This is a season, that I believe, will be trying to see where they stand without their star center. After a disappointing season, the center packed his bags and left. All isn't bleak in the hockey world of Minnesota though, they still have great players such as Christoph Klsoe, Zach Miller, Ja'Far Dar, Blake LaFlamme, Jackson Turksa, Gene Parmesan and David Winter among a lot of other talented players. This is a team that will rely heavily on their defense if they want to look to make some noise and make the playoffs.

Playoffs are going to be a challenge to get to for this team, in my opinion, as the competition and parity in this league is very close. I will be surprised if this team does make the playoffs. A lot of it does depend on how Mr. Brandon Sawyer plays this season. We will see if he had an off year and he's the real deal or see the fall of him. Let's hope it's not the latter because I have big hopes for this young goaltender. Rookie goaltender Edwin Ask could be asked to take over the role of carrying this team throughout the regular season AND in the play offs if results do not take place. Goal tending is a finicky position that requires a complete mental awareness when playing. One wrong move and a game that was in reach is further out and cannot be grasped anymore.

The Manhattan Rage
Rage

After a terrible season and only recording a low of eight wins. The draft started off very controversial for this team as they only received the forth over all pick. Rage fans were outraged as both expansion teams picked before them. The Rage are one of the youngest teams in the SHL. Management hopes that their prospects take huge steps forward, but from an outsider's point of view, it's hard to imagine them being very competitive in a very deep Eastern Conference. This rebuild as many teams curious as to knowing if a 'tank' is a successful way to stay competitive in up coming seasons. It's hard to imagine that any GM is trying to build a team off of losing various season though. There is a lot of hope for this team in the future. Everyone's eyes will be looking at this team three or four years down the road.

Here is a look to show you actually how young this team is:

The Rage picked up players from the NWJHL such as Steven Espisito, Jason Michaels, Dickie Adua, Cuddy Christ, and Jordan Nugent-Hall. These are rookies who are joining a team with four sophomore players. I believe the Manhattan Rage need to pick up two or three veteran players to help mentor these young fellows. The Rage also have one of the best young goaltenders in the league in Josef Heiss. However, goalies are only able to steal a few games a year, hopefully the expectations for this youngin' aren't high. John Grossman is THE defense for this team and will be Heiss' right hand man.

The Winnipeg Jets
Jets

Ron Mexico, need I say more? This is a player who led all players in points last season. When a team can boast about a player of his caliber than you know things are looking very good this season. The Jets are going to have a great season but a lot of it is dependent on their young defensive core. Although losing Kovalenko in a trade that helped them rebuild their prospect core, there is still a lot of hope for this team. Star player, potentially the most important, John McBride their goaltender will have to yet again show why he is arguably the top goaltender in the league.

The Jets tied for first in the west last season and I am to believe that they will be in the same area yet again. A winning environment does a lot to help player produce and stay at a elite level. If these players get over losing Kovalenko in the locker room I could see them repeating the success that they have been having. They could even possibly get past the first round of the play offs! Let's hope that potential does turn into results, there have been many of times where this is not the case.

I liked the Daily Show-esque aspect of it. Well done, Cuddy.
