The season is over for the Hartford Hydras but it seems that Jareht Sto Helit is busier than ever.
A couple of weeks ago we had learned that his mom was staying over but it wasn't just for a visit. She arrived early in the morning only to leave again the same day. Reason Jareth had received an invitation to go to the Oscars. During his off time he had worked on the animation movie Frankenweenie. This is off course a movie of Jareths hero Tim Burton. It was an honor for Jareth to work on this movie but to be invited by the man himself to accompany him to the awards was a dream came true. Since they arrived on Friday evening Jareth and his mom had time to go sightseeing. it was the first time for his mom in the city and he couldn't wait to let her see all the sights. But that would have to wait till Saturday since his mom was exhausted from all the traveling. They went out to grab some dinner. You would expect something fancy but his mom chose burger king. They don't have that in Belgium you see. On Saturday they went out but had to be back in time for dinner. Tim had arranged a pre Oscar dinner for everybody who he had invited. Here Jareth met Helena for the first time. He couldn't let this opportunity go to ask her how she did her hair. Helena wondered why and Jareth explained that Sarah wanted to do her hair just like hers for her wedding. The two started talking about different hairstyles. Soon the dinner was over and time to go to bed since tomorrow was a big day. The next day they were ready for the big event. Jareth and his mom wore outfits designed by Ian Stuart. He is the designer of Sarah's wedding dress and he wanted to accept the challenge to make an icehockey player look oscar worthy. Jareth had his own prediction list and hoped he got most of the awards right. This is a tradition from his and his mom. They always try to guess the winners and the one who got the least right has to pay the other one a dinner. It didn't start like this, when Jareth was younger the loser had to do the dishes for a month. Jareth proved to be really good at picking the winners he got visual effects and both the screenplay categories right but got the short live action film wrong. He had hoped that the belgian production Death of a Shadow would win. In music he got 3 out of 4 correct. He had guessed the soundtrack from Life of Pi but it was Adele who got away with the statue. He got another wrong with production design but scored with short animated film. Foreign film wasnt his cup of tea either but had the makeup and hairstyling correct. This wasn't so difficult since Les Miserables just looked amazing. But the most important categories were still to come. It started bad with actor in supporting role. He so badly wanted Tommy Lee Jones to win. And with actress he missed one again. He went for Helen Hunt. Then finally it was time for their category. Animated Featured Film. He had hoped Tim would finally win an Oscar but he knew one of the two Disney movies would win. If Burton didn't win he hoped it would have been wreck it Ralph but it was Brave who won. With this award it looked like his mom would win. She was one ahead and there were 3 more categories to go. They both had actress in a leading role correct but Jareth missed the leading role. He had gone for Hugh Jackman who played the role of Jean Valjean amazingly. He felt that Daniel Day -Lewis played the role of Lincoln good but couldn't carry the role when Lincoln got mad. But it looked like he was one of the few who thought that way. And to make matters worse he lost best Picture. He wanted Life of Pi but Argo got away with it. His mom got that category wrong. She went for Lincoln. She hadn't seen Argo yet so she couldn't really judge. So that meant he had to take her to the restaurant of her choice and pay for dinner. She picked a her favorite restaurant in Gent. This way her son had to come home soon and stay a bit longer then just one day. The rest of the visit was like usual, his mom was worried and took him shopping. It was time to change his wardrobe and get some new household supplies. Time went so fast and before they knew it, it was time to say goodbye. But the crazy days weren't over yet. Jareth had to fly to England soon. On 15th of March it was Red Nose day and Jareth actively helps every year. Not on screen but behind the scenes. This year he would be sitting on the phone line accepting donations for the cause. It was a long evening for the phone team they sat there almost 7 hours nonstop making calls. During their breaks they could of course watch the show. The Show is actually a comedy show where the English celebrities all join forces. Popular tv shows make a special episode and that is broadcasted during the show. Also they do different challenges to raise money. The reason they collect money is for charity work in Africa but the reason why this show is different is that around 40% of the money raised goes to local projects. So when donating you aren't just helping kids in Africa you are also helping projects around your corner. With all the calls coming in the team had no idea how much they had raised but they knew it would be a lot. 15 minutes before the show ended the lines got closed so the entire team and all of the other crew members could watch the final result. They hoped they would have broken the record of last show and they did. They had raised more than 75 million pounds. Exhausted Jareth went back to the hotel and set his alarm so he could watch the rerun of the show the next day. When Jareth went down for breakfast he couldn't believe his eyes. While standing in line to get coffee who other then Doctor Who was standing in front of him. And not one doctor but 3 doctors. It was the eleventh Doctor, the 10th doctor, his wife and her father the 5th doctor. His day started off amazingly since Jareth is big Doctor Who fan. He felt nervous and said hi and congratulated them on the show. They saw his wristband ( he was still wearing his backstage wristband) and asked him what he thoughts were on the show. Jareth had to confess he hadn't seen the show yet but he was going to watch later that day. They heared his accent and had difficulties placing his accent. He explained them where he was from and how he ended up there. When learning he was in the movie business too Matt Smith invited him to come and watch the recordings of one of the episodes of Doctor Who. So next month Jareth has to go to Cardiff for a Doctor Who experience. Words 1256 images 6
