Top defender? I'm not so sure about that. Perhaps the more experienced on the team now, and after last season's success I expect more pressure. More pressure as I try to help the new guys adjust to our system, and additional pressure from the media as they will turn to look at me or Nikitin now that Winnfield has retired. Last season was nice, as a majority of the pressure was placed on Winnfield as a veteran and a very talented defender, and I was able to focus on playing my best game. However, I have definitely matured and I believe it is time for me to step into a leadership role for the team.

My initial reaction to the CoC trade was actually a lot of nervousness. Winnfield and Rose just retired, and it seemed like we were divesting a lot from our future in order to be more competitive now. However, having CoC takes our offense from one of the best to perhaps the best in the league on paper right now, and Karlensons is prepared for a huge season. The defense is definitely going need to step up on offense and on defense to help out Karl but I think this trade really helps us for the upcoming few seasons.

I'm done with being excited for our future, I've been excited for our future for the past 4 seasons. The future is now! The only thing that holds us back from being the best in the league is our goaltending situation, but Niki and I will lock down the D and Karl will have an outstanding season for his first year as a rookie.

It hurt a lot. After our come back against LA and with it being Rose's and Winnfield's last season it really felt like a special year for the team, a cup winning year. However, it just gives us more reason to fight for more this season.

Yeah, I don't expect us to be the President's Trophy winners or anything like that. The regular season will be a rollercoaster ride as Karl gets adjusted to being a starter. However, he will be ready by the time playoffs come and that is all that matters.

I am 99% sure the Riot will make the playoffs again next season. The only reason we could miss the playoffs is due to inexperience in net, and if we get ourselves into a big hole near the bottom of the league in the beginning of the season. We have to get out on the right foot, and carry that success through the season.
