DJ Stanley about to do the "Too Sweet" after scoring a goal in his 3 point (1g, 2a) game 4 come back victory.

Now taking the stage is Center for the Prince George Firebirds, DJ Stanley.
Coming off a huge game 4 performance where he help motivate a 3 goal comeback and also notched in 3 points. So far this post season he has 6 points in 4 games. Also, Stanley is a rookie and entering the SHL draft this offseason.

DJ Stanley will now be taking any and all questions (literally any question) at this time.

Interview That was a huge 3 point performance you just had in game 4. What was going through your mind when you heard you were selected as the first star of the game?
Just everything Ive been through this whole season. Being an undrafted nobody to being a big part of this team. All of that just made me feel like I belong on this team. On the flip on all the emotions and how great it felt, were in the middle of a battle of a series against Vancouver so as soon as I got off the ice to a skate around with a rain of boos (which I loved) I hit the hostile fans with a 2 sweet, and just after that its on to game 5.

Interview Where do you think you need to improve heading into the draft?
I think I need to get better conditioning and work on just working on my craft. Being drafted doesnt change my motivation to help out this PGF team next season seeing as how Im most likely going to brew down in the SMJHL for a season or two.

Interview How would you describe your play style?
I think Im an offensive minded forward with a better playmaking ability than sniping, but Im working more and more on being a 200 ft player and a more rounded center. The coaches and trainers at PGF and some I personally bring in to help me all are giving me pointers and were working endlessly to make me the player I some day hope to become.

Interview Why should a SHL GM be interested in drafting you?
I think an SHL GM should be interested in me because Im dedicated to the sport. I love hockey and dispite the non existant rumors, Im not retiring to become a professional wrestler in Japan. Taking notes from Brummer, Im trying to be a more vocal player as I feel next season I want to take more of a leadership role and help out some of the young guns.

Interview How have you enjoyed being a Firebird? Do you think you're a good fit with the team?
I love this squad, I love being a Firebird and I think this team is like a band of brothers and sister. We got a natural chemstry with eachother. Our fans go wild for us and it just shows how great this locker room is making an undrafted nobody feel like a mega million superstar after this game with the pie to the face and adapting my Too Sweet goal celebration. I think I fit here like a glove. Like I said, nothing but support from eachother in the locker room. Sparks and I developed a crazy combo on the ice, and Kudleychuk and I travel together off the ice. Taking pictures with fans and all this, its an unreal experience being one of the boys.

Interview What do you think about your team's play in the playoffs so far?
Theres always room for improvement for us. I think we need to play better defensively. Im not calling out or blue line heroes, but I think that as a team we can play better in our own zone than what we are showing so far this postseason. It could help that but us being more disiplined and not taking dumb penalties, but on the otherside of that, our powerplay has looked great and even with a slow start in game 4, we scored 4 unanswered and ended up winning so if we can play like we did in the 2nd period for 60 minutes, I personally dont know if a team in the SMJHL can stop us.

Interview You were undrafted in the S24 SMJHL draft but you've come up big as a contributor for the Firebirds this season. How does that make you feel?
It feels remarkable. Its kind of like a huge suck it to the rest of the league that passed on me and left me on my couch in Philly. Couldnt be a more humbling experience though. They way I see it, Jordan was cut from his HS team. Now Im not saying that Im MJ, but they awoken the beast inside of me with the same motivation and hunger. And I think that the Whalers are getting the brute of most of that this series so far.

Interview Where do you see yourself going in the S25 SHL Draft?
I havent even looked that far ahead yet. In all honesty, I think Im a huuuge sleeper pick this draft. With some dedication and some development from the team willing to put the effort in to me, I think I can expand from the potential I seen on a scouting report of I believe it was a 7.0C potential? But I see myself taken at the earliest maybe end of the 2nd/early 3rd and at the latest, anything but undrafted again. Lol
