It was a bit of a crazy deadline day for the Falcons organization, but GM Schmidtty is here to talk. Jasper Clayton and Michael Burch were the Falcons captain and assistant captain, respectively, so some leadership roles are to be filled. Taking on the captaincy for the remainder of the season and playoffs will be the one remaining alternate captain, goaltender Austin Lemieux! A's will be given to left wing Ross Burke and right wing Tim Buckner. I will now take questions.

How hard was it to make the trades that you did?
It was tough. I mean, the negotiations were relatively easy, but it was difficult to send away the heart of the team, I feel like a bit of a sellout. Clayton and Burch are already missed in the LR, but my players and myself very much appreciate these guys literally taking one for the team here.

Do you have a plan for all your picks or will you just be drafting with them?
Well I already know who I'm getting with my S28 1st. :ph34r: I don't plan on trading my high picks. As the draft approaches I will likely try to trade up from my lower picks.

What positions do you feel you need to address in the offseason?
Aside from starting goalie Austin Lemieux, I don't think anybody else will be called up for S26. Possibly Ross Burke, as Portland continues to build their team, but definitely no more than those two players. This means that I don't have to focus on picking through the later rounds of the draft. Rather, I can focus on picking up two or three, maybe four really solid prospects as everyone else in their sophomore year develops further.

Have you thought about CoGMs yet?
Yep. Been thinking about that a while actually, at the beginning of the season Nikitin said he was planning on stepping down. Then he changed his mind, then he disappeared. Wacky week it was. I had 3-4 people in mind, but if I'm being honest to myself it's between two people. It will be a very difficult decision to make, but that's the GM life. Expect an announcement after the playoffs are over.

You are stacked, do you like drafting?
I wouldn't say I'm stacked, only got two players over 300 TPE now and one of them is getting called up for sure next season. I do have some solid young guns though. I enjoy drafting, I don't enjoy scouting. I really enjoy seeing new players develop well, and I try my best to make sure my team has the tools and knowledge to succeed.
