HAMILTON CAPTAINS</div>

[Image: invisible.gif]With S27 looming, the reigning Cup champions find themselves buckling down in the weight room and on the ice. There's immense pressure on the team to continue the success they saw last year, playing through roster difficulties and putting on a miraculous display in the postseason. Some question whether last season's win was a fluke, but those in the organization are greeting the new season with confidence. "It was no mistake, last year," says general manager Jakob Tanner. "We went in with a depleted roster, but each and every player on the team gave it his all. People are so focused on what we don't have that they ignore the caliber of the players we do have."

[Image: invisible.gif]"Honestly, it was somewhat difficult to pick captains," he continues. "We have spectacular players on this team, many of whom have stepped up to be leaders on and off the ice through the difficulties we've faced in the past few seasons. Ultimately, however, we're confident in our choices, and we feel that we're giving the letters to the right people."

[Image: invisible.gif]With that said, the first alternate captain for the Hamilton Steelhawks in S27 will be...

<div align="center">CODY BLACK</div>

[Image: invisible.gif]Though young, Black has shown time and time again that he has what it takes to step up for the team, both on the ice and in the locker room. He was called up for the finals last season and, though he scored no points, he provided a strong presence on the blue line, going +3 in four games and providing rest for the top pairing. In the locker room, he's a vocal presence, not letting his youth keep him from speaking his mind. He brings a charisma that's infectious, bringing the team together as a family as we all laugh at his jokes and make a few in return. We're very glad to have signed Black to a lengthy extension, and we look forward to seeing him blossom over the coming seasons.

[Image: invisible.gif]Onto the second alternate for the year. Receiving the other "A" is...

<div align="center">KIAN HAMILTON</div>

[Image: invisible.gif]Overlooked by many until last season, Kian had a career best year with the Steelhawks, despite finding himself on the second line all season. Not to be deterred by his spot on the depth chart, he proceeded to put up a point per game, finishing with 24G, 26A, and 50P for the season. After being brought in from Seattle in exchange for Joe McKeil, Kian has quickly settled into his new home. Almost immediately, he expressed his desire to spend the rest of his career in Hamilton, something both players and management greatly appreciated. The Steelhawks are very fortunate to have a player like him on the team, and he is certainly deserving of this honor.

[Image: invisible.gif]Finally, the captain himself. Wearing the "C" this season, to the surprise of few, is the living legend himself. The one and only...

<div align="center">JOE MCKEIL

[Image: GQIwMZt.png]</div>

[Image: invisible.gif]Joe is Hamilton. Since being drafted in S8, he has spent all but the most recent two and a half seasons in a Steelhawks sweater. He's given his heart and soul to this franchise, as a player, as a general manager, and most importantly, as a friend. We were extremely sad to see him go in S24, but we're happy to welcome him back to the franchise this season. Joe is where he belongs, and all is right once again. He brings with him a veteran presence and a dedication that no other in the league can rival.

[Image: invisible.gif]Joe, we love you. Welcome home.

[Image: invisible.gif]"All three of these players have given their all to this team, and I'm proud to be able to show them the recognition they deserve," says Tanner. "While certainly everyone on the team is deserving of the reputation and respect they've gained in this league, I feel the captains this year represent a balance that represents the franchise well. Joe, the legend, the veteran that ties us to our storied history as a franchise. Kian, in his prime, tearing up the league and playing no small part in our cup win. And Cody, who is a reminder of how bright the future is for the team."
