St. Louis Scarecrows Report Card

Scoring: A

The strongest part of the Scarecrows game is the offensive output the team can produce. Every player who has dressed in a game managed to put up at least one point and 14 of the 20 have put up at least three points which has put the Scarecrows 3rd overall in goals for at 35.

Defense: D-

The Scarecrows have an obvious hole in their game and that is their defensive play. The Scarecrows sit dead last with 44 goals against. That's average 3.39 goals against a game. You will not win many games with your goals against that high so they need to figure it out.

Specialty Teams: D

The Scarecrows power-play is painful to watch with an average of 15.09%, almost 4% lower than the league average. The team has the offensive guns to turn this around which is clear when you look at there goals for each game. The penalty kill sits at 80.65% which is just below the league average and when you consider the amount of PIM's the team takes (144, the most in the league) it is possible they turn this around too. They just need to work on their discipline.

Goaltending: C-

Casey Holmes is a good goaltender stuck in a bad position. He has only played 698 minutes (2nd lowest) yet has still managed to save 323 shots (2nd most). He currently sits at a save percentage of .879% and a goals against average of 3.35. Casey Holmes is the only rookie goaltender in the SMJHL which should be taken note.
