The Halifax Raiders came out of the gate firing in Season 28. The Raiders got off to an excellent start. Halifax spent a majority of the season with the second best record in the league, right on the heels of the leagues eventual champions, the newly branded Montreal Militia. The Raiders featured a number of exciting new players on the roster. Forwards Felix Herzog, Jack Dabkowski and Leif De Bruin joined the club. All of them look to be returning to the Raiders and have bright futures ahead of them in the SHL. The club also stabilized their goaltending with the addition of SHL 1st round pick Richard. C Hocolate. The Militia proved to be too strong and the Raiders fell to Montreal in a hard fought 6 game series.

Reinis Aumeisters

Congratulations aumicc!!!

Reinis Aumeisters had a true breakout season. Aumeisters scored 18 goals and added 33 assists for 51 points, a total that led the Raiders by a wide margin. Aumeisters was a key part of the Raiders 1st line all season long. It appears that the Latvian winger will be back for one final season with the Raiders. Aumeisters is just 39 points shy of passing Conall Macleod as the Raiders all time leading scorer.

Leif De Bruin

Congratulations, xfactor!

It almost seems like Leif De Bruin was destined to be a Raider. De Bruin signed with the Raiders for their playoff run last season and even scored his first SMJHL goal with the club. The rules required that De Bruin enter the upcoming SMJHL draft as he had signed with the Raiders after the trade deadline. The Raiders traded up to #1, could it be to select De Bruin? Nope, Herzog. Halifax acquired pick #8, surely they were retaining The Bear? Nope Dabkowski. That's when things got really crazy. Somehow SMJHL GM's continuously passed on Leif. The Raiders picked again at #16 and were ecstatic to bring De Bruin back into the fold. Despite his slip in the draft, De Bruin maintained a positive attitude throughout and continued to work hard to improve as a player. De Bruin was a leader in the locker room all season long and was one of the Raiders best playmakers. De Bruin was rewarded for his hard work when he was selected 4th overall in the SHL draft by the Los Angeles Panthers.

Taystee Poussey

Congratulations, Jamie!

Taystee Poussey is one of the Raiders greatest players of all time. Poussey spent 4 seasons with Halifax and was a key contributor during her entire tenure with the organization. While she may not have put up huge numbers offensively last season, Poussey was a excellent all around player and was a heart and soul player for the Raiders. Poussey is excellent in the face-off circles and will absolutely punish opposing defenders in the corners. Poussey would go on to become a key piece of West Kendall's Challenge Cup run. This is Poussey's second Ogorodnikov award. Best of luck in the SHL Jamie! We've been lucky to have you with us.

The Fuller Trophy Top Defenseman

Clayto... Oh wait. Montel Vontavious Porter!

Congratulations MVP! Your the first person other than Clayton Fuller to win The Fuller Trophy! Porter was acquired by the Raiders at the trade-deadline and he made a huge impact in the short amount of time he was with the club.
Porter scored 7 goals and added 12 assists, in just 17 total games with the Raiders. MVP led the Raiders in playoff scoring. We are hopeful to have Porter back for a full season with the Raiders!

The Moreau Award Rookie of the Year

Felix Herzog

Congratulations, Wasty!

Winning his first award with the Raiders is last seasons #1 overall draft pick, Felix Herzog. Herzog was a consistent contributor to the Raiders offense throughout the season, but he really found his stride in the second half of the season. Herzog finished with 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points, good for 2nd on the Raiders in total scoring. Herzog was a dangerous part of the Raiders powerplay, putting up 14 of his points with the man advantage. Herzog should be even better next season and will be heavily leaned upon by the Raiders to continue his production. There were a number of different directions we could have went with this award. Leif De Bruin and Richard C. Hocolate deserve some recognition for their large contributions to the team as rookies.

The Macleod Award Most Valuable Player

Reinis Aumeisters

Congratulations, Aumicc!

Reinis Aumeisters put up huge point totals and carried the Raiders offense at times. While he may not be the greatest defensive player, his offensive skillset more then makes up for it. Aumeisters has proven to be a huge steal for the Raiders organization. The Raiders took a chance on the little known prospect from Latvia with the 48th overall pick in the S26 draft. Aumeisters has rewarded them by being very active right from the beginning and he loves the Raiders. Aumeisters has a chance to go down as one of the biggest steals in SMJHL history.

You may not have updated much, or really been that active in the locker room, or scored goals, or made anyone a sick ass sig, but who cares about all of that? Your a fucking beast! So you may have taken twice as many penalties as anybody else in the league, that don't even matter. The fear that you struck in opponents was invaluable. Other teams players were literally pissing themselves every time you stepped onto the ice. We hope to see you back with the Raiders!
