Media Bonus Week Sunday 7.24.16 <div align="center"> Looking for D: Eligible Defensemen We are only one day away from the S30 SMJHL Draft and it is shaping up to be one for the ages. In my past articles focusing on this draft, I have examined some of the wingers and goalies available. Now, in this article, we will dive into some of the defensive prospects. LD – Ryan Vas #47 Standing at 6’2’’, 210 pounds, Vas brings a balanced game as a Two-way Defenseman. He describes his strengths as Defense, Skating, and Puck Handling. One thing that concerns many scouts is his checking capabilities. With that said, Vas can sleep easy Sunday night, rest assured that many General Managers will come knocking for his services. Vas can be found on Twitter @RyanVas47. D – Jari Sinikka #4 The Big Finn, standing at 6’3 comes across the pond from Helsinki. He’s counted on for his expertise in scoring, passing and skating. His good shot has caught the attention of general managers who are in need of offense from the blue line. Being able to shoot a canon of a shot at the point is a necessary skill for defenseman and Sinikka perhaps does it better than any other S30 Draftees. Naturally though, the offensive skills come at a cost, and that cost is: checking. General Managers that are looking for a defenseman who can lay big checks will perhaps look over Sinikka. LD – Tyrone Savage #00 One word describes the American Defenseman: MASSIVE! How massive exactly? Over 7 feet tall and 350 pounds. When he lays a check the Richter scale registers mini-earthquakes. This defensive defenseman is sought after for his defense, strength, and checking. Teams that want to increase in size, get bigger, and have a solid defenseman on their teams will look to call Savage on Monday. The rest of the 18 year olds in the league better be wary of getting in his way; some prospects, being a 1/3rd of his size could find themselves in the critical care unit following a big hit. This wraps up my coverage of the S30 SMJHL Draft Prospects. The scouts around the country are all in agreeance that quite a few quality stars will emerge from this draft. Good luck to all the S30 SMJHL Draftees! Thanks for reading! Sources Ryan Vas Profile Jarri Sinikka Profile Tyrone Savage Profile </div>
