Not finished yet, but putting up the thread with what I have and what I'm halfway done with so nobody accidentally does what I'm already doing, and so others can start posting the rest.

I think you can say with a relatively high degree of certainty that in this one we really saw where Sivy McSieve gets his name from. Four goals on eight shots is just not where you want to be as a goaltender, and good on Montreal - especially Russett with the natural hat trick - taking advantage.

Let's take a look at Russett's first goal here:

McSieve gets distracted trying to play up this goaltender interference angle, and it ends up costing his team big time.

Then of course, there's the goal that would end his night which was Kennedy's twelfth of the year:

And after the fourth goal went in, he was completely over it. Just look at the anger here:

Not a good night for McSieve at all.

UNSUNG HERO

McSieve was basically hot garbage, but give a call to Jeremy Anderson for stopping the bleeding. Nine saves on ten shots, a strong showing from the backup. Anderson still needs to get his starts in this season, so good to see he'll be able to hold his own when called upon.

Player - Team comparison: Nathan Russett vs. Detroit Falcons

Nathan Russett - 7 Shots, 5 Shots on Goal (71.43%), 1 Shot Missed the Net (14.29%), 3 Goals (42.86%)
Detroit Falcons - 32 Shots, 17 Shots on Goal (53.13%), 12 Shots Missed the Net (37.50%), 2 Goals (6.25%)

Nathan Russett alone was a better scorer than the entirety of the Detroit Falcons. An embarrassing performance on one end and a POTY performance on the other, Russett made the snipers of Detroit feel useless in comparison. Russett's hat-trick to start off the scoring destroyed any chance of Detroit gaining momentum to come back in this game. Russett was better in putting pucks on net and in putting pucks in the net, and if Detroit hopes to get out of the basement of the East, they need their team to play like Russett did tonight.

DEPLORABLE OF THE GAME: Terrance Nova

A tough night for the Falcons definitely means a tough night for the Deplorables, and while there were a few of the pack of 6 that maintained an even +/-, it was Terrance Nova that was trying to create offense for his team. Removing one player from the puck with a hit and lending an assist to one of 2 goals from the Falcons makes Nova the best of the rest in a game where the 6 Horsemen of the SMJHL need to get their act together and ne'er repeat.

McSieve is as good a goaltender as there is in the SMJHL on paper, but that 4 goals allowed on 8 shots in this game is just deplorable.

5 goals on 18 shots total? woof. Should have moved for a goaltender in the offseason.

With that out of the way, lets talk about the Three Stars from this game:

1. Nathan Russett Militia (3 goals) Natural Hat Tricks are always fun to see. The Calgary Dragons prospect continued his pretty good sophomore season by ripping the heart out of Detroit early and ending this game quickly pretty much single handedly.

2. Kristofer Hallfredsson Militia (3 assists) The big defenseman showed off his occassional passing prowess, in what might be a career high for points in one game.

3. Johnny Watson Militia (2 assists) The second line center for Montreal isn't having the best year, but he came through today with two assists, including an exceptional pass to Brennan Kennedy to put Montreal up 4-1 just about a minute and a half after Detroit scored to give themselves some life.
