For the second game against the Colorado Mammoths, the Raiders took the direction of the Pepsi Center. It was the first of three road games and Halifax is hoping to solidify the team with the long road trip. It might not the longest of the season, but it was the first one for the rookies heavy team. They had 3 games in the same amount of days and learning to share and calm down the strong characters would be necessary.

The wind wasn’t in the Raiders’ favor in the first period. They were unable to capitalize in a penalty received by Kapralov for Holding. During the two minutes, they only shot once on goal, but Aleksandrov was able to stop Bernstein’s deflection. Colorado’s Larsson capitalized on a great pass sent his way by Von Hammersmark. Toward the end of the period, Lyszczarczyk also beat the Raiders goaltender, putting the Mammoths 2-0. However, Cody Fletcher provided a bit of momentum for his team when he fired a puck passed Colorado’s Aleksandrov.

During the second period, the teams went back and forth the ice for a big part of the time. The Raiders sail was, however, cut down near the end of it by Zbyněk who made fun of Jordin FourFour Jr. and found the back of the net. Halifax’s center Klozoff tried to make a play following the goal but the referees blew their whistles and sent him in the box for Hooking. The penalty kill unit jumped on the ice for the Raiders and managed to keep the Mammoths at bay.

With a score of 3-1, the Raiders had to try to fix their ship as soon as possible. The third period started with a little struggle between Zbyněk and Bernstein. Both players ended up being sent in the penalty boxes by the referees. The Colorado players was penalized for Holding while the Halifax forward got a Hooking call. At the mi-period mark, Klozoff redeemed his blunder at the end of the last period by shooting a wrister behind the Mammoths netminder. With this newfound energy, the Raiders sent a few shot in the direction of the Colorado’s net. Unable to score, they were faced with a counter attack led by Lyszczarczyk who won an important face-off in Halifax’s end of the ice. With a quick pass to Kapralov, the right wing propelled the puck past FourFour Jr. leveling the Mammoths 4-2. Despite a strong team effort, the Raiders were unable to rally and experienced the defeat for the fourth time in the same amount of matches.

The unsung hero of the match for the Raiders was Chuck Bernstein. He helped on one of the goal and was present on the ice for both of them during his 18 minutes of icetime. He also shot 4 times on the goal and produced 2 hit for his team. He won the only face-off he took in the game.
