It's hard to believe that only three short seasons ago I was nervously awaiting on being selected for the SMJHL draft. I'm writing this to announce a poorly kept secret that I'll being taking the call next season to join my SHL team the Toronto North Stars in hopes that we can finally end the rebuild and head to the playoffs. Now 47 goals and 119 points later, I'm heading into my final postseason in Juniors and hoping to help the Kelowna Knights to a Four Star Cup. It's all been flying by and I just want to take some time to thank all the people who helped me get to this point.

Firstly, I want to thank spooked and Sleepy for giving me a shot and taking a chance at a player without the same pedigree as some other prospects. My time with Prince George was amazing and I met so many great players and people through the Firebirds family. I want to thank some of my former teammates in Kyler Gill, who was my linemate both seasons in Prince George and an amazing all around person, Paddy Kane-Rielly, who always was there to check my ego and hated when others did it to him Tongue, Dildo, who was an excellent example as rookie and is an all round great guy, and Carter Manning, who will always be my center. That first season in Prince George will always be one to remember and lifting the Four Star Cup with you all will be one of my finest memories of my SHL journey, and I probably should thank all of you for dragging my bum ass to the Cup. Also shout-out to White Cornerback for his Finals Game 7 pbp, easily the best pbp I've been apart of and definitely had me on the edge of my seat. All in all, I played with two league MVPs during my time with PGF, which is a testament to the team and players involved. I know that the Firebirds will be back and will be a team to reckon with in the near future.

Now on to my second home, Kelowna. It's a true testament to the team and management that myself and Mikhail Pertikov were welcomed with such open arms. This season may not have been as prolific for me, but this team had so much depth and ability it didn't matter. I want to thank Nour for bringing me to Kelowna and for being such an awesome dood. He's a tremendous GM and the Knights are in terrific hands for the future. I’d thank all of my teammates from this season, but there are so many of them that it would be difficult without leaving someone out, so I’ll just keep it simple and say thank you all! This season in Kelowna was awesome and you all are going to be excellent SHLers in the coming seasons!

So as my Juniors career is coming to an end I can look back and smile. My trophy/awards case has a nice start with the Esa Anrikkanen Award (Rookie of the Year), an Elias Armia Trophy, a Ron Bolt Trophy, and a Four Star Cup (with hopefully a chance at another soon). While I might not be the greatest Juniors player ever or even a Hall of Very Good player, I’m more than okay with a Hall of “Hey That’s Pretty Good” nomination.

Now, onto the not so distant future in Toronto. I was taken with the 6th overall (technically I was the 5th player taken, damn you FORFEIT) and was delighted to be joined by some close friends in Bob Bergen, Richard Physt, and my Firebirds teammate in Tommy Tuck. I think what Toronto has built in recent drafts is something truly special, especially with the additions of Luuk Kraaijkamp and Florence Clijsters, and I am ecstatic to be apart of it. The locker room has come alive and we really are on the brink of something very special. But I won’t get too far ahead of myself here and just leave it at this. Let’s go Knights!

____________________________________________________________________________

The above article was released only hours before the Kelowna Knights postseason pressers were due to start and now we are here with Mikhail Lokitonov to discuss his season, the upcoming postseason, and apparently the end of his Juniors career. First, we will allow the Kelowna based journalists to ask questions and then open questions to the floor.

Interview “Based on the article you released earlier today, you seem to be disappointed with your personal production this season. What were your expectations?”

Loki: “Well I was hoping to catch up to my former teammates in PKR and Gilly, and add a MVP trophy to my cabinet, but fell short of that level. However the team’s performance was great and clinching home ice was vital going into the playoffs. Overall, I’m more than happy with the season as a whole.”

Interview “Are you worried that you are getting too far ahead of yourself by making this announcement so far ahead of time?”

Loki: “Don’t let this make you think I’m not focused on what’s right in front of me. Getting to the finals and winning the Cup is the goal. Right now that is my focus.”

Interview “Are you worried that this announcement will distract from the team’s focus and cause issues in the locker room?”

Loki: “Not at all. This was a poorly kept secret and I’d be surprised if anyone wasn’t aware of this inevitability. I think it is more likely that the team is galvanized and becomes tighter with this news. We only have a single goal right now.”

Alright if there are any questions, you are now free to ask now.

What will your objectives be for your first SHL season?

Have you discussed your role with the Stars GM yet? If not, what do you think it will be?

Stars[/b]

My guess is it'll take another two seasons or so before Stars really reach that next level, but the immediate help in defense of adding active bodies in from of Tuck will be interesting.

I think it's hard to say, but due to the sheer number of prospects in the team's system at the moment I think there are enough bodies to fill a lot roles in depth positions that right now are being used on inactive players.

I'm going to keep it simple like my rookie year in Juniors. A point every other game and anything else is just a cherry on top.

At the moment I haven't talked to Symm about my role yet but my guess it will be on the third line with decent minutes. The nice thing is that when I unbank I'll be pretty flexible build wise so I'll be able to file niche where needed.

I will ask u some questions

have you seen the Haters Guides and are they good?

What’s your expectation for your rookie season in the SHL?

How bright of a future does Toronto have?

I love UT and I think you've done an excellent catching the essence of those videos and making them into text form. Good job my dood!

I'm gonna keep them relatively low. Like I said above, point every other game is fine, but if I do better I'll be very happy.

I think the ceiling for this team long term is crazy high if we can keep this young core together and can add some veteran talent to the blue line. I'm extremely excited to get started in Toronto.

Quote:Originally posted by CptSquall@Apr 20 2018, 07:38 AM
How do you feel going into the SHL next season?

Are you excited for what seems to be a deep playoff run?

With so many fellow star's team mates playing for Austria in the IIHF, how do you feel they will fare?

Extremely excited. Toronto is going to turn some heads next season.

Yes, I believe myself and Petrikov are the only players with deep playoff run experience, but I think that makes us invaluable to the team and keeping focus on the ultimate goal.

Austria is similar to Toronto in that a recent in flux of good, young talent has them poised to really start competing with the big boys in IIHF.

What are your expectations for next season?

Can I have Debrincat in the EHM league? Wink

I think that I'm really well prepared for the transition, but I know that I'm extremely prepared for the rigors of the SHL.

Ultimately I'm trying to keep personal expectations low, but if I can be in the race for Rookie of the Year I'd be extremely happy.

Stay the frick away from my Cat.

What are some Of your career goals?

Is there a player in the SHL that your looking to compete against or get on the ice with?
[/quote]

I think my biggest one is to complete the career Hat Trick of Four Star Cup champ (check), Challenge Cup champ, and IIHF Gold. Other than that I'd like to be a regular in the top 100 of players for a consistent run.

I love competing against the rest of my draft class cause of the bragging rights up for grabs. On top of that getting a chance to go against the best in the world night in and night out is what everyone wants. In terms of players I'd like to play with, that's a long list and luckily I get to play with some of those with Austria, but I'd love to at share a LR with guys like Brady McIntyre or Viktor Marius as they are awesome guys. Outside of my draft class, I'd love to play with Zach Evans purely cause cookies.

A masked figure stands up in the back row and proceeds to throw a shoe

He bolts out of the room but before he leaves, he yells "Kuck the Fnights!"
