Decent trade for us but this is exactly why I didn't like and still don't like the changes to the playoff format that happened under the old SMJHL HO: Teams have an incentive to give up on a season before it even started whereas others will mortgage their future, accepting that the price for their current success will be a few seasons of suckage. It's not a good situation for a junior league to be in and I'm not blaming the teams or GMs for it, but the system that incentivizes team building strategies that aren't good for the league as a whole.

The BFFO was not widely liked or accepted. We tried to do what was best for the league but can't make everyone happy.

The what now? Battle for first overall? That's not what I was talking about.
