The Pride now hold the first overall pick in the upcoming draft but have seen their other first round pick drop in value with the resurgence of the Wolfpack, who went form last place to fighting for a playoff spot. Over this span Leshaun King's play has also dipped, another underwhelming block of five games which seems him walking away with only three points. Leshaun King's scoring lead in the rookie race has also been given up to fellow rookie Jax Aittokallio. Over the last fifteen games Leshaun has 4 goals and 6 assists, which is a 13 goal and 33 points pace. Which has taken him from being on pace for 44 points this season to being on pace for 15 goals this season and 40 points. King: Yeah that last fifteen games have been disappointing on an individual level, but the team is progressing and we're getting better overall. We'll have a lot of moving parts this off-season to and it'll take us time to get settled, but I like our trajectory long term. The club will have an influx of rookies next season with Luke Thomason, Jeff Brogen, Richard Metcalf Jr,, Vince Reaper and Steven Moyer all coming up to the forward group and Charlie Schieck joining the blue line. King: I'm really looking forward to next season to everyone coming up, particular my partner in Luke Thomason @"luketd". We've been doing some practising together through out the year and we think we have a good idea for how we want to play going into next year. I think we'll be able to make some noise together. The club also traded for superstar defensemen Isak Odegard. King: Getting Isak is huge. We knew we would have a lot of depth up front right away, but our blue line is still younger and needs more time to mature, so having Isak there to lead the young guys with Jack will allow us to be much better much faster. We just need to find a good balance back there. Schieck will come up and he can pass the puck well, we'll likely need another guy back there who can do a bit more passing to allow Jack and Isak to get there shots. The club enters the final 10 game stretch with a keen eye on the standings. San Francisco is holding onto last place but Buffalo and Seattle are only one point ahead. The fourth last team Manhattan has a 7 points lead on San Fran, so it's safe to say San Fran won't be catching them, so a bottom three spot aka a top three pick pre lottery is locked up it seems. The interesting story will be New England currently 5th last, they're only 2 pts out of a playoff spot and Minnesota has been sicking like a stone they have 4 wins in there last 11 games while New England has gone a whopping 9-1-0. Picking up 19 out of a possible 20 points in that run. King: I have some of friends on New England, so I'm happy theyr'e doing well, and hey we grab another pick if they make the playoffs, so all good with me. The Pride play the Cheifs, Panthers, Jets, Steelhawks and Dragons over there next 5 gsames, all playoff teams which the Pride have not performed well against this season. 753 Words |
