Chuck Crutchfield Addresses Trade Rumours

Dallas, Texas - It has been a quiet offseason for the young Renegades prospect, as the elimination of the Detroit Falcons has kept him to a slow pace for the offseason. The young defenceman was one of the best in the SMJHL last season, racking up an insnae +28 plus/minus rating, while being a positive contributor on special teams as well. During his scrimmage games in the World Junior Hockey Championships with Team USA, Crutchfield currently has 10 points in 7 games with a +12 plus/minus rating during exhibition games, and 4 points through 5 games in the round robin with a +5 plus minus rating.

"Obviously, we were all a little banged up. We played a great season, and at the end of it we came up short against the Colorado Raptors. Not taking anything away from them, they played a great series against us and played well against the Scarecrows in the finals as well." Chuck Crutchfield addresses the media during a scrum, "We felt like we had a lot more to give, and we could have given the Scarecrows a legitimate shot for their money in the Finals, but as we all see, nothing is for sure in this league and that just goes to show the great parity within the SMJHL."

"Chuck, how do you feel about your chances of making the Renegades next season?" A reporter chimes in from the background.

Chuck grins for a second, before rubbing his nose and continuing. "Obviously Texas has a great squad coming in, and look to be even better than the season before. I'm thrilled to be affiliated with the Renegades at this point, but I still feel like I have a lot of unfinished business within the SMJHL. Myself and my agent have consulted with the GMs of the Renegades and we've decided that I'm going to play 2 more seasons down in the SMJHL in order to best get myself a Four Star Cup."

"Can you shed any light on the trade rumours that have been going around regarding yourself?" Another reporter sticks a microphone closer to the mouth of Chuck Crutchfield.

"Obviously I can't say too much about it but I will confirm that I did request a trade from the Detroit Falcons. It's nothing personal against the team, I just feel like my chapter there has come to a close and it's time to pass the team onto the new guard. With Poopity Scoop going up to the SHL, I feel like there are other teams in the SMJHL that could use my services and make a charge for the Four Star Cup with me on their roster."

"Are there any teams that you aren't willing to report to?"

"Without a doubt, I would report to wherever I got traded to. There were some preliminary discussions that happened earlier this week with some teams, and I told them if they missed the playoffs then I would probably look elsewhere to play for the following season, whether that be the Renegades or another team in the SMJHL. With that being said, now that every team in the SMJHL makes the playoffs, I would be open to playing out my remaining two seasons wherever I happen to get traded to." Crutchfield looks into the crowd of reporters, looking for one more question.

"Do you have a preference on teams that you are looking to go to?"

"I mean, we all have preferences right?" He lets out a chuckle. "Primarily, I want to go somewhere that nobody that my agent has represented as played for, or been affiliated with. The four places I have in mind that I'd like to play, as close to an order as I can make are Colorado, Anchorage, Montreal, Anaheim or Lethbridge. Those five are the primary teams that I'd be looking to play for if I had my way, but like I said before, I'm open to playing anywhere and I'd just like to have my shot running a power play and playing big minutes, because I know that I'm one of the best defencemen in the league..." Crutchfield pauses. "Not to sound cocky or anything, but I feel like I have a lot to give any SMJHL team that trades for me, and I don't think that any team that took a chance on me would regret it."

The young defenceman looks into the crowd of reporters, perhaps looking for more questions.

(do i get 2x for this?)
