Kelowna Knights Captain Sanyi Kocsis Reportedly Dealing with Unknown Off-Ice Issues

Scary news for Knights fans as a rumor has surfaced out of Kelowna that Kelowna Knights captain and S44 Esa Anrikkanen Award recipient Sanyi Kocsis has been dealing with an unknown off-ice issue.

While as of right now, obviously, it is unknown what this issue is, the prevailing theory is a potential mental health problem for the Hungarian defenseman. Despite a strong look in the preseason, being named captain of the Knights, and an already impressive hardware cabinet for the young defenseman, the captain has struggled during the first three games of the Knights' regular season. Looking out of place, and slow on certain plays, many have been questioning whether or not if Kocsis' off-ice problems have been affecting his on-ice performance.

The Kelowna Knights have refused to comment on the matter, citing that it is in Kocsis' best interests to keep any private information, private. Additionally, Kocsis has refused to comment on the rumor.

"While this might just be a passing rumor," SMJHL Analyst Brian Friesburg noted. "It has the potential to eat at both Kelowna's season, Kocsis' performance, and his reputation. If it's all smoke, then the Knights need to kill it while it's still in its infancy. If not, then it should be in everyone's best interest to let it die out and to let the team and player figure out a course of action. This should not be a headliner, it's a private matter."

Kocsis currently has a single point in 3 games played. He leads the team in AMG with 24:46 and is a team worst +/- of -3.
