Don't Mind the clickbait title

The Montreal Militia have recently completed a soft rebrand of their franchise. Front office has decided to revert back to the color scheme of the previous iteration, Montreal Impact, while keeping the current name. This has stirred some critics- some saying that the change was unnecessary, others saying they should’ve gone farther and rebranded everything back to the Impact glory days.
 
While the jury is out on the change, one thing is certain: It is a change. Most people, when asked, seem to either like or be indifferent to the new logo. In my opinion, it does a good job updating the impact design, while keeping itself unique. The color scheme has also been well received, although some question the league’s approval of this as the SMJHL already has teams with their primary colors being blue or grey.
 
That seems to be where the unanimousness ends. Some people like the new jerseys, other hate them. There’s a couple key features that seem to split the consensus:
 
The font used:
They font used works very well on the logo. However, that sentiment doesn’t seem to have transitioned over to the rest of the jersey. The numbers and names seem to stick out, like a sore thumb for some.
 
The Fleurdelisé:
Personally, this has torn me in two. The Fleurdelisé shadow on the home jersey works very nicely. There’s just enough showing what it’s supposed to be and blends really well with the rest of the jersey. In my opinion, it’s a home run. On they away sweater, however, no thanks. The blue of the flag stands out too much and doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the kit. Yet, still a serviceable jersey.
 
Shoulder patches:
What the fuck went on here. Luckily the shoulder patches don’t play a big role on the jersey, or else this rebrand would be up shits creek without a paddle. The right shoulder has what seems to be a war-torn Fleurdelisé. Again, though serviceable, the proper flag probably would’ve worked better. The left shoulder patch is hot garbage if I’ve ever seen it. MM. Great work, did your 9 year old child design this one? It’s simple, but lack-luster. There’s no styling to it, literally just two mm’s attached together. I think what would’ve worked better would to have been to take the previous logo, recolour it and slap it on to one of the shoulders instead. Or better yet, just get the Mc’Donalds logo and slap it on. At least then you’d have some sponsorship money for what we’re covering next:

The Dirty Thirds:
“Hello, Cleveland Cavaliers? Yes we need help making an alternate jersey!” is what I imagine started the creation of this practice shirt that is being called their third. Up until now, everything mentioned has at least been liked by one person that we’ve spoken to. This is where that ends. At least now I’ll have a rag to clean up vomit with after a long night of alcoholism. The jersey is uninspired, end point. Honestly, with the Mc’D’s sponsorship, they could’ve paid an actual designer to make the third jerseys instead of getting  Phillipe-Jean, the concession stand cashier, to do them.
 
I will give the front office credit. After the rebrand announcement , some angry contestants contacted us with their design entries for the alternates. Here’s some of the entries that didn’t make the cut:

As big of a joke as the current thirds.

As the announcement press conference ended, one local reportedly caught the now Halifax Raiders GM, Dean Atkins saying:
“Hahahahahaha.... Look at all the wanna be specialists talking jersey stealing and ms paint like you have a clue. Do the league a favor, shut up, no one cares what you think. This post was to put out the new jerseys and logo, not to hear a bunch of cry babies "expert opinions". No one cares what you think and really, the jerseys bother you so much? Or maybe because it's Montreal? Mature a little boys, its only simulation game, don't need to let every little thing be a massive insult.”
 
Welp, with how the third jersey turned out, I can’t help but feel like all of my senses have received a massive insult. Honestly, they eat more ass than my dog does, and she licks clean every couple of hours. God bless all of you Militia players that will have to wear these at least once.
