S39 IIHF Round Robin Totals

Here's the spreadsheet I made if you want to see it. Had to compile all of the data from each season's IIHF so that took quite a bit of time (there are a lot of sheets in here): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing

The S39 draft class has shrunk from over 60 players being chosen in the S39 SHL Draft to only 31 players remaining in the SHL from the draft class (that are over 200 TPE). A good amount of these players have had big impacts on their IIHF teams during that span of time, some joining their teams as soon as their first season of eligibility in S38. Now that we've seen the impact they've had on their teams, I thought it'd be fun to see which IIHF teams have benefited the most from these players joining the international playing surface. Before that though, I'd like to specifically recognize players that are leading the S39 draft class in some categories (please not that this is only round robin stats).

I have to say that I think Latvia had the biggest improvement for any one federation in this draft class. Three big impact players joined their federation that have been playing for quite a while and will likely be one roster for seasons to come. Second place would likely go to Russia, though that is arguable since some of their IIHF roster players from this class have gone inactive. Finally I think third would go to tie between Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Ireland who each had 2 high earning impact players join their team this from this class. The edge would likely go to Austria since both of those players are part of their management now and they have another player who is starting to become an impact player for them.

Statistics Based on Federation
Austria Austria
Austria got three new members from the S39 draft class, two of which home become parts of the management group there. All three are prominent members of the IIHF squad and have been contributing to the team for several seasons now. Three IIHF level players from one class is a pretty good haul.

Canada Canada
While Carter Manning has not been playing for Canada's IIHF squad for very long and may never see international ice again after being deemed inactive, Gary Grease has become an integral part of Canada's IIHF squad.

Czechoslovakia Czechoslovakia
McIntyre and Smyth have come together to become the new management tandem for the Czech Federation. Two good earners who have been contributing to the IIHF squad for a long time.

Finland Finland
Seppanen has been a part of Finland's middle six for several seasons now, though he has been inactive as of late.

Germany Germany
Germany got a haul of three great earners in the S39 draft class. Kadinger shores of their defense while Koenig and Becker have grown into great top 6 players.

Ireland Ireland
While O'Sullivan isn't the most active player, Ireland found a potential top pair in O'Callaghan and Toner from S39. Not every day you can fill out your top defensive pair in a single draft!

Latvia Latvia
Viktor Marius may likely be the best player to come out of the S39 draft class when it comes to IIHF. Higgins who is a hitting machine and Loks who is like a mini Marius have been great players for Latvia as well. This was a big draft class for them.

Norway Norway
Groenkjaer has been hailed as a great locker room presence for a long time, but Christiansen always seems to go underrated in SHL. In the IIHF he has what it takes to be Norway's top line center. Two roster IIHF players is a good haul.

Russia Russia
Russia probably got the most out of the S39 draft class when it comes to the IIHF. Four defensemen who are all good enough to play in the IIHF with Maksimov being an elite talent.

Sweden Sweden
Unforunately Sweden did garner any IIHF players from the S39 draft class.

United Kingdom Uk
Although the United Kingdom only ended up having one S39 player be IIHF caliber, Bob Bergen has been huge for the team on and off the ice. He may be the most important player to come out of this draft class for any one federation.

United States Usa
James Johnson has been a staple of USA's bottom pair for seasons now. Not bad for a federation that sometimes struggles to keep their talent.
