The background gradient works very well. the bokeh/texture overlay adds depth and enables the drop shadow on the face/gum and text to appear even deeper than a standard drop shadow. The player fading into the background is well executed, and ties the two together flawlessly. the text works and looks great. not a lot of risks taken with the text, but it looks good. The "riskiness" stood out to me because 4/9th's of the canvas is relatively unoccupied.

Sig 2: 7/10 = 700K
According to google not much doctoring was done to the base picture, but flattening the nonface elements works to help make the face the focal point. Using the triangular halftones to fade it away/blend it into the background and is just enough. the added background with the texture in the top right of the canvas gives the viewer the perfect hint of navy on the opposite corner from the navy triangles. well composed! the text fits, but could have been placed much more tactfully to not overlap the face. Particularly when there wasn't a jersey/logo swap, the text could have been used to obscure the Jets logo. The gif element in the corner is interesting and the detail in the frame by frame mask is impressive. I wish you had done more of the triangles from the opposite corner if you were sold on the distressed masking. Lastly, the sizing of it all is a bit awkward, as a tiny man spinning his stick in the corner appears to move across the screen. perhaps if it were more solid and appeared as a cutaway it would be more effective/less disruptive.

Stellar background. great masking and use of textures. It sets the tone for the text which is appropriately typefaced and accurately drop-shadowed. The player render looks good and the jersey is color adjusted well and works with the selected background. Big Plus = the masking on the visor so that the background is visible adds a different level of realism. Big Minus = the player's facial tones are off and he appears green. normally this wouldn't be as noticeable, but he's been put in a sterile white setting.
