Game Link ![]() ![]() Period 1 Almost immediately after winning the opening faceoff, the falcons received a minor penalty for high sticking. This gave the Scarecrows some time to get an advantage on their opponent. After a couple of shots by Scarecrows players that didn’t go in and a well-timed interception by Nicolas Fleming in the neutral zone off a poorly made feed by Miikka Salo, Gordie Boomhover scored the first goal of the game at 5:06 in the first period! ![]() ![]() Immediately after this goal, the Scarecrows turned the jets on and made 3 shots in quick succession. However, play was blown dead off a cross-checking minor given to Oleg Scoreov. On the man advantage, the crows didn’t give up and Basil Magnicotta Shoots and scores off his own rebound. A powerplay goal for the St. Louis Scarecrows! ![]() ![]() After scoring two goals in under a minute, things mildly quieted down in terms of scoring. The period ended with no more goals and with the Scarecrows owning the shot board. They rushed the Sccarecrows zone and after several shots, Miikka Salo scored a goal under two minutes into the period. ![]() ![]() After the center ice faceoff resulting from the goal, Wibbly McButternutz received a tripping minor. The Scarecrows responded with a fairly weak powerplay despite getting 10 shots toward the goal. Score ![]() ![]() Period 3 With only one goal separating the two teams, the game could still go either way. For much of the beginning of the third period, the teams traded shots back and forth. A few minutes before the halfway point, a pass by Charlie Serpe got intercepted by Marc Palicka. After a missed shot by Raino Kyllonen, Marc Palicka picked the puck back up and scored to tie the game up at 2. ![]() ![]() At this point it was anyone’s game. With several minutes the pace seemed to sway towards the Scarecrows. In the Detroit Falcon’s zone, the Falcons executed a great passing play off a turnover from Stolp Skottson. Eventually after being moved from Isaac Yamada to Charlie Serpe to Nicolas Fleming, the puck found its way into the net to put the Crows ahead. ![]() ![]() Despite their best efforts, the Detroit Falcons failed to tie the game back up. TSN TURNING POINT
Late in the season and getting ready for the playoff grind the Detroit Falcons and the St. Louis Scarecrows are looking to get there final games done with and focus on the playoffs though it never hurts to fine tune your game late in the season. The Scarecrows found themselves in another tight contest down to the end as it took our TSN turning point to bring home the two points in this one. With under 5 minutes left the Scarecrows needed some help from their offensive dynamo Nicolas Flemming. Flemming with just 4:40 remaining in the 3rd in a 2 to 2 game put home his 14th goal of the season which was enough to bring home the Win for the Scarecrows. Goals like this are big especially at the end of the season when valuable points are at hand for jockeying positions in the standings. This turning point might mean nothing in the standings or could mean everything but as far as tonight's game it helped turned this one around. The Highlights St. Louis gets off to a fast start as Gordie Boomhover fires one past Derion and nets his 16 of the season. ![]() Marc Palicka pots his 7th goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2 with just over half the third period remaining. ![]() Nicolas Flemming puts home the game winning goal with under 5 remaining in the third period. His 14th of the season. ![]() MVP of the game Gordie Boomhover & Nicolas Flemming ![]() Tonight's game was a tightly contested and low scoring affair and it is hard to name one guy so that is why in tonight's contest I'm going to name Co MVP's. Tonight's MVP's go to the two studs of St. Louis Scarecrows Gordie Boomhover and Nicolas Flemming. The duo combined for 2 goals, 2 assists and 4 points that were the key component to the Scarecrows to get the win. Boomhover started of the scoring after a nice set up by Nicolas Flemming. Boomhover wasn't done there as he added an assist on the Scarecrow's 2nd goal that was scored by Basil Magnicotta. Finally in the 3rd Flemming fired home the game winning goal late in the final period. The duo has created havoc all season and tonight was no exception. As both players played right around 22 minutes which included 4+ each on the power play. It is no secret why the Scarecrows sit near the top in the league with these two doing the damage they do on a nightly basis. ![]() HE SHOOTS HE SCORES
