West Kendall Platoon
Looking at West Kendall as a whole they seem like they are finishing up drafting what is to be a pretty good rebuild. They seem to have a checklist going into the draft, securing a future goalie as Bojo starts to dwindle down, get a couple more defenseman to replace the regressing ones, to create a really good defensive core, and their forwards they are trying to strengthen, as it seems as they aquired McCloud. Things are looking bright for them, lets look at their prospects
Elite:
S51: Zoone16 - Luca Del Vecchio
If anyone was worried about West Kendalls goalie look no further than Vecchio, he is the real deal when it comes to the future goalie for the Platoon. He has been putting up decent numbers for a middle of the pack Kelowna Knights last season, with a record of 21-20-2 and a GAA of 2.8 with a SV% of .889 those stats doesnt tell the whole story. People usually say that the goalie stats in part reflects the team and this is the case, as Vecchio is an elite goalie that will need some more time to develop before heading to the SHL. In the draft, Vecchio was drafted 5th OA in the S51 draft and his TPE level shows it. Having 557 TPE which is good for 4th in that draft class, he is going to be a very good goalie. For the personal side, Zoone has made a great forward for West Kendall before, and with a very big bank account there is nothing I can see that will stop Zoone from becoming a great goalie.
High End:
S52: Glyc - Sabo Tage
Recently drafted in the S52 draft, Sabotage has had a bad rookie season, only getting 5 points in 50 games. But for the beginning of this season he already has gotten 6 points in 10 games with the struggling Vancouver Whalers. Even with the on ice stuggles, Tage is still an high end player. Since he is a co-gm he was drafted at a number that we cant really compare to his TPE, but in terms of TPE he is at 359 which is good for 7th in his class, and what we can gather from his last player, Tage will be making an impact with the Platoon.Personally, Glyc is a really good guy, terrible at video games, and has a cute cat. Even through all of that he is someone that most people want in their LR, only gripe I have with him as a player is that he doesnt have a ton of money, which could hinder his TPE gains.
Very Good:
S50: CementHands - Karl Krashwagen
Now in his 2nd season in the organization, Karl is proving to WKP on why they picked him. Last season for the Halifax Raiders, he lead his team in points, gathering 25 goals and 27 assists, leading Halifax in most goals too. He is someone that is making a big impact on the ice for Halifax, which is good for West Kendall, who drafted him 23OA during the S50 draft. In terms of TPE Karl is at 638 TPE which is good for 20th for that class, which is very good, hence the ranking. In terms of the user, CementHands has the 2nd best Gritty Picture on the site. But seriously he has a good bank account, and he does media regularly. Ontop of that he is the co-gm of the Halifax Raiders, which shows good commitment to the site. CementHands will be in good hands in WKP.
S50: RaIn - Andrey Barbashev II
Next up is Karl’s draft mate in Andrey Barbashev II. Barbashev is an offensive forward from Austria who is winger for Kelowna Knights who is doing a good job there, gaining 39 points last season and leading his team in goals(20). As true to his word, he scored 4 of those goals on the power play, and plays some of the most minutes on the power play. For the S50 draft, Barbashev was drafted 15OA for that draft, and for his TPE he is at 667 that is good for 17th in his class. So he is keeping right on pace on where his development is at. In terms of the user, one issue I have is money. Not doing media will dwindle his funds, so there is my worry for him going on into the future.
Very Good/Good:
S52: Rindiee - Slatt Potts
Getting draft this past offseason Potts will have to prove people wrong to move up in the rankings. Potts is a two-way forward from Georgia who had a decent rookie season, that could have been better. Potts got 5 goals and 5 assists in 50 games as well as getting some decent power play time, but with a -9 +/- and only a 8% SHT% he will have to be doing better to make an impact for the Beserkers. In terms of the draft Potts was drafted 6OA from West Kendall, which seemed as a reach for some, but to others it was a good pick. In terms of TPE he is at 334 which is good for 11th in his class. In terms of the user I have a couple red flags, and the first was his past player, quick mafs, who he only got up to the low 600’s before going inactive. Another I have is he does have low money, but if he starts to write media more then that could be nullified. Hopefully I’m wrong and he climbs up the ranks and becomes a good player, but right now he is at Very Good/Good for me.
S50: jtwilson - Jack Wilson
Being drafted 2 seasons ago, we get to see his development path a bit more, as we see his development kinda stay the course for where he was drafted. Wilson is a two-way defenseman from Ireland, and he has been playing pretty good for Lethbridge… I mean NewFoundland. He had 7 goals and 23 assists last season which is good for a two-way defenseman, but only really played for the power play and only had 36 minutes for the PK, so maybe Newfoundland is not using him to his full potential, but he has been doing a good job in the SMJHL. For the draft, he was drafted 28th OA to the Platoon, and for TPE he is 29th for the class, so right where he should be for developmental wise. For the user, money will be an issue in the future, as he only has 1.35 mil in his bank and hasn't written since september, so WKP will have to give him some money if he wants to continue on his trajectory.
Good:
S51: Carbine - Indigo Trevino
Drafted last season, Trevino has been an interesting prospect to follow. A power forward from Latvia, Trevino has been playing some good hockey in Halifax, potting 17 goals and 13 assists while also laying the body for 47 hits, though that is low for a power forward. In terms of the draft, he was drafted 16th OA to West Kendall(who got the pick from Calgary). In terms of TPE he is at 350 TPE, which is good for 21st for that draft. For the user, Carbine has made a good player before, and I think he will make a good player again, but the TPE isnt there yet for me to bump him up just yet, but we will see in the future.
Bust:
S49: Winter Is Coming - Cody
Yeah… that happened. RIP the former 6th OA in the S49 draft.
