Good evening, Whaler faithful , it is I, your Keyboard Warrior, returning once again to inform you of the day that was--post-season style. *claps to himself*
Yesterday, the Whalers took a commanding two to nothing series lead over the Anaheim Scarecrows with Luffy Richard creating quite the offensive spark, as well as the Whaler defenseman who had themselves a day by the blueline, scoring two goals and an assist. And while his physical defensive game wasn't as raucous as it normally is, the Whalers managerial staff won't be complaining about a scoring Luffy Richard. The Whalers hope to extend their lead over the Scarecrows, whose haunting goal song has started to creep into the very essence of my nightmares, with a win here in the first match of the day (fourth overall). And what an exciting game it was. The Whalers jumped to a quick lead, and even took a two goal lead into the third, but a quick match was not meant to be. The Scarecrows tied it in the third, and sent the game into overtime. Whalers fans, I have never experienced overtime play-off hockey when I've been so emotionally invested, and I must tell you, I think it almost killed me. It did add a few gray hairs, to be sure, and I spilt my nachos, but what a high that is! When Rikki Petrov scored the overtime winner, thanks to a nice feed from Devin Basher, I almost flew through the roof of the press box. My goodness, I erupted with such joy I thought I might need to change my pants. The Final score of the third game was four to three , with the shots skewed heavily in the Scarecrows favor, but HE WHO CANNOT BE NAMED, kept the Whalers in the entire game. Though the pressure was heavy, he kept his composure and squared away the victory. Luffy Richard added another assist to his play-off points total, bring him up to four (two goals and two assists). He also added two blocked shots, three hits, and a takeaway, proving he can provide the Whalers with depth scoring and defensive responsibility. His physical game returned, much to the terror of the Scarecrows, and the delight of his teammates who love to see Luffy so engaged. The question now becomes: can the Whalers remain hot and sweep the Scarecrows, and will Luffy Richard keep bringing his physical presence and scoring touch to help finish off this series? Let us find out, Whaler Faithful For those of you who love goalie duels, we all witness a hell of a scrap tonight. Once again HE WHO CANNOT BE NAMED was lights out, straight dominating the puck like they were in some sort of kink lifestyle arrangement together. My goodness, this was almost as nerve-wracking as the overtime game I had to endure earlier today. Oh, how wonderful playoff hockey is. glorious. The Whalers sweet the Scarecrows by the score of one to nothing, with the lone goal coming from Valtterri Kauppeninen, with helpers from Sato and O'donoghue. in this series, the third-line, home to our dear Luffy Richard, accounted for thirteen points, and really boosted the Whalers' dominant performances in the first two games. Luffy, obviously, didn't score today, but he managed three blocked shots, a hit, and a giveaway. We can forgive that last one because nothing bad happened, but Luffy better keep a better eye on that puck. With this win, the Whalers become the first team to move on, but already Maine has also swept the Detrain Falcons, so its bye-bye birdies. I caught up with Luffy Richard, who has begun packing up his things back at our hotel room, and asked him what his thoughts on the series were. He hit me with a miniature bar of soap and told me I should intuit the excitement of his energies based on the realignment of my chakras due to the overwhelming positivity he is exuding. I don't know if I want any of his exuding energies if I'm honest. He also stated he is looking forward to the next challenge, and feels this group can match with any of the other teams that remain. He is impatient to start the next series, but he knows he has some time to rest, ice up, and watch tape on the next teams. He believes the Whalers are the hottest team in the league right now, and that the lines are clicking like they never have before. The rest of the league should take notice because the Whalers are only going to get stronger from here. The next week will be an exciting time for the Whaler faithful, so keep coming back here for more news, especially from the perpesctive onf one Luffy Richard. Unitl next time. Keyboard Warrior, out. |
