The 20 Game Mark To Russia With Love Dear Diary, The season is wrapped up and I can't help but feel a little sad. I was an utter disappointment in our series against Kelowna, but I'm not beating myself up too much over it. Kelowna was a top team all year along with Newfoundland, Carolina and Anchorage. I didn't expect to beat them, but I was hopeful we could take a game or that I could at least generate some offense. Ah well, it's time to look ahead. The next event on my radar is the WJC. I didn't crack team USA this year, but a lot of my teammates will be competing in the tournament and I'm excited to cheer them on and watch them kick ass! I think I've got a good shot at cracking the roster next year. My sights are now set on the draft. I've been in contact with a few teams and I'd be excited to join any of them. Except Tampa of course. I politely let them know they could kick rocks. I had some concerns earlier in the season that I might not be drafted, but those concerns have been mostly alleviated. I've started to fall behind some others in the class, as I joined late and missed the predictions, but wherever I land I'm excited to take the next step in my career. I think Nevada is going to make some noise next year and I'm pumped to keep growing and get back on the ice for the next SMJHL season. Despite the sore finish, this season exceeded all expectations. I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed in Nevada, but I have honestly stepped into one of the best locker rooms in the J. We have such a fun, engaged core. I have no doubt most of us will stay active through the next season. And even outside of my fantastic teammates, I was able to find such a great role with the Battleborn. Stepping into a top 6 scoring role as a rookie is not an opportunity all are allotted, but joining an expansion team during their inaugural season allows for some extraordinary opportunities. I was able to average more than 15 minutes per game this season and with that I was able to put up 22 points and settle in nicely as a top rookie scorer this year. Sadly the league just barely buffed some of the milestones out of my reach. I scored 9 goals and 13 assists, 1 short of each milestone TP. That stings. I'll still be maxing early in the season, though. I'm excited to see what our group can do next year. Some personal goals I'm setting for myself are 15 goals and 30 points. For the team, obviously my goal every year is to win a championship, but I think a real positive step forward would be for us to win a series. The draft lottery took place earlier today, we lost the top pick to Anaheim but it doesn't hurt too much. I expect they're going to take Rob Wright. It's a little disappointing as we look to bolster our strength down the middle, but we're turning over every stone and making sure we're familiar with all our options at centre in this draft. Of course, there is always the possibility Noka or Jay could decide to trade the pick for immediate help down the middle. Someone get this on the rumor mill. Speaking of the rumor mill, I am happy to be out of it as it pertains to Jimbo. The LVMPD combed through my diary even though I took all possible security measures to ensure nobody but me could read these entries. Luckily I'm completely innocent of all accused crimes and they found nothing of use to their investigation in my notes. They've stopped harassing me since my last entry, but notably the sheriff has not contacted me to apologize for his slanderous lies and besmirchment of my character. I still haven't heard anything about Jimbo. He's not been declared officially dead by the city even though they've opened a homicide investigation. Which is a massive relief since he is obviously alive, well and invisible. I've been out for a stroll every night trying to find the wizard that sold Jimbo the potion but I've had no luck. There are a lot of people who look like him on the strip, but nobody who knows anything about invisibility potions. Some people have gotten especially offended when I've asked. Between all those awkward encounters and the troublingly high numbers of scamdemic conspiracy theorists in the streets, I've elected to abandon my search of the wizard and leave the Jimbo business to the professionals. I recently re-activated my phone plan and have been getting quite a lot of spam calls. Not the usual Chinese ones though, I've been getting calls from a 499 area code. That's Russia, baby. Now I don't know about you but I've never heard of no telemarketing scams from Russia. Clearly this must be a professional hockey team interested in my services, I'm not sure why they didn't call James Bond instead of me. Regardless, I'll never play for those commie bastards. I plan to return their call on draft day just after I've been selected, so I can proclaim my intentions to play in the SHL and tell them to suck my massive free market dong. I'll let you know how it goes in my next entry. That's about all I really have to say about the end of this year. It went out with a dud, but all in all I couldn't be happier with the league. Every day I find myself more excited to see what this team can do. I'll see you all at the draft and post-draft kegger. With love, Chad
