1: Arsene Leclerc
Position: Left Defense Draft Day TPE: 195 Build Notes: Leclerc boasts a balanced build that would make for a great bottom 6 defenseman on any team. Grade: A+ 2: Rob Wright Position: Center Draft Day TPE: 172 Build Notes: Wright is a heavy checking forward. He plays in front of the net and excels at it. He is good at faceoffs as well. Grade: A+ 3: Rude Sniff Position: Right Defense Draft Day TPE: 195 Build Notes: Sniff is an unbalanced player. He is great with the puck, and can make a strong pass, but his defensive ability will need work to be a competent player on the back end. Grade: A 4: Jonathan Granström Position: Center Draft Day TPE: 177 Build Notes: Granstrom seems to excel on the physical side of the game. He is fast, graceful, and strong. He could beef up the other aspects of his game, but he certainly is no slouch. Grade: A- 5: Ren-Ekelemchi Shimizu-Okoli Position: Left Defense Draft Day TPE: 165 Build Notes: The defensive aspect of their game is lacking, yet they excel at all other areas of the game. Grade: A- 6: Ruggs McOoooh Position: Left Defense Draft Day TPE: 177 Build Notes: Ruggs can make a pass and is a hard worker, but isn’t much else. He’ll need to weave a bit more into his tool box in order to make an impact as a rookie defenseman. Grade: B- 7: Freyja Hellström Position: Left Wing Draft Day TPE: 177 Build Notes: Freya is a sniper. They are fast and agile, can find the open areas with uncanny ease and can snap it home with a deadly shot. All of these things are good to have up front, but Freya is a liability in their own end. Grade: C 8: Sven Sjögren Position: Right Defense Draft Day TPE: 165 Build Notes: Strong on the puck, Sven does not easily serve up pizza. He is smart in his own end, he loves to throw a hit, and has decent speed to keep up on the backcheck. Not much can go wrong with Sven on the ice. Not much can happen offensively, unfortunately, and will be an offensive dead spot in the opposite zone. Grade: C+ 9: Thomas Duddy Position: Right Wing Draft Day TPE: 155 Build Notes: Duddy knows how to build a play. He has great offensive hockey sense, can handle the puck with ease, he’s fast, he’s strong, he can shoot, he can find open ice… But he cares very little for defense and seems to be completely lost when he finds himself in his own end of the ice. Grade: C- 10: Anna Pontecorvo Position: Left WIng Draft Day TPE: 169 Build Notes: Oh my God is Pontecorvo fast. There may not be a faster top-end speed among any of the potential draftees. She can hit her top speed in 3 strides and blow past defenders with ease, and has the balanced offensive toolset to match. Unlike many of the other offensively top-heavy forwards in this draft, Pontecarvo actually shows signs of defensive responsibility and this bodes well for her future development. Grade: A 11: Jon St. Ark Position: Goalie Draft Day TPE: 177 Build Notes: St. Ark boasts a balanced toolset. His reflexes are strong, he is never out of place positionally and is great on both sides of the net. There isn’t much weakness to his young game, and he will be a bright spot as any team’s back up this upcoming season. Grade: A- 12: Zdanke Beranek Position: Right Wing Draft Day TPE: 185 Build Notes: Zdanke Beranek may have one of the most balanced builds in the draft. He is an all around strong player with unlimited potential. It doesn’t matter much where he decides to put his effort, he will be a strong player for the lucky team that picks him. Grade: A+ There is plenty of talent in this draft and plenty of so-so potential. While we all would like to go high, new players should remember that being a late pick does not say anything about the player you can become. There will be first round busts and fifth round gems. Hard work and determination will take you far. This is one thing that can't be discerned from a player profile. Code: 722 Words Ready to be graded for 2x draft media.
