Newfoundland Berserkers Game Reactions for Day 8
Pregame Coverage: The Zerks take on the Nevada Battleborn and The Anaheim Outlaws. Hoping to get it going after being shutout by the Whalers last time out let’s see how the Zerks did. Game 19: Newfoundland at Nevada The team is still exhausted from kicking so much ass that the goal scoring drought continues in their game against Nevada. The Zerks just couldn’t get it going and lost this match by a score of 0-3. Not all Zerks played poorly. Bas O’Bigbers had a relatively solid night out there on the defensive side of the puck. Billy Brooks was a pest out there for the goats. While he was on the ice there was little room to do much of anything. Zerk of the Game honors goes to: Bud Weiser! Bud’s not a player we have the chance to mention very much. One of those rare journeymen in the SMJHL, Bud hasn’t had many chances to shine in the spotlight. Bud Weiser was chosen for this award because he had the strongest performance of any player who played well on both sides of the puck. Congratulations! Game 20: Anaheim at Newfoundland The Zerks finally break their goal drought and beat the Outlaws again, winning 3-1. It was a solid performance all around from the Zerks and doesn’t leave much to be discussed but we are still proud of their performance as a team. Some notable performances would be Ric Charlesworth who continues his massive start to the season scoring his league tying 12th goal of the season. What an amazing start by the Australian forward. Captain Vaseline Podcalzone scored a goal and continued his strong season tonight, playing a big part in rallying the team after two disappointing losses back to back. Last notable performance I want to mention is Jesse Trudeau. I’m not sure what it is about this guy but this guy scores so many opening goals it is filthy. He sets the table for the Zerks night in and night out and we are blessed to have him. Zerk of the Game honors goes to: Matty Sandeen! Winning his second ZotG this season we are so grateful for his presence on the team. He notched 2 apples while playing really solid defense. Sandeen did a great job taking the role of a the PP QB this evening and without him it is unlikely this game would’ve been over after 60 minutes. Congratulations! Word Count: 412 ZotG Leaderboard (Volsungr Award Leaderboard) T1st Ric Charlesworth: 3 T1st Bas O’Bigbers: 3 T-2nd Billy Brooks: 2 T-2nd Shion Okamoto: 2 T-2nd Aleksandrs Balcers: 2 T-2nd Dwayne Gretzky: 2 T-2nd Matty Sandeen: 2 |
