Newfoundland Berserkers Game Reactions for Day 16

Pregame coverage: After two wins the Zerks look to get it going against Anchorage… and that’s it. Anchorage is a team that just plays really well against Newfoundland. Every game leaves me with a headache and I honestly dread those matchups a little bit. Somewhat excruciating to have to constantly play great games and just not be able to find the back of the net while some boat slips by a defenseman and nails a break away goal to seal the deal. Tired of that shit.

Game 38: Anchorage Armada at Newfoundland Berserkers
As per usual Newfoundland suffers a very painful and close defeat by a score of 2-1. I fucking hate playing Anchorage so much. It is always like this, just pure agony. A game so close you can taste it but in the end, it’s just a painful defeat.

A couple Zerk performances worth noting. Bas O’Bigbers scored a late goal but ultimately Koji Murata decided they’d do their best charade of a brick wall this evening and absolutely stop everything until the final two minutes when Bas finally found the back of the next. Seriously 6 shots on goal and only 1 found the back. Murata has just become the arch nemesis of Bas. Not really but that is a name that will not soon be forgotten. Ric Charlesworth assisted Bas’ goal, but more importantly he hit the fucking boats three times. Also he did really well in faceoffs tonight.

Zerk of the Game goes to: Bas O’Bigbers. Solid game but damn still a tough loss.

Postgame coverage: It was one game and it was against Anchorage. I hate playing their team so much please stop it!

Newfoundland Berserkers Game Reactions for Day 17

Pregame Coverage: Two important games on the slate with a game against St. Louis to follow. With Detroit rapidly climbing the standings and threatening Newfoundland for 2nd in the east, it will be tremendously important for Newfoundland to win against Detroit and then Nevada. Afterwards the Zerks can play the crows, which should be quite relaxing after some games against some tough teams. Before these important games we caught up with captain Vaseline Podcalzone to get his thoughts on the season so far and the future. First I got his thoughts on how he thought the season was going so far, “My play so far? Abysmal. Insane slump, I need to play better. The rest of the team has looked absolutely stunning. Rookies are playing brilliantly, Bas and Ric have some of the best chemistry I’ve ever seen. We’re exceeding all expectations, but get this. We have it in us to be even better.” The truth is that Podcalzone is not having an awful season at all but he’s not been on the scoresheet much. It happens. Next I was curious as to what he thought the standout rookies have been so far, “Balcers for sure, especially after Joans got called up. He’s been a steady and reliable man on the blue line, and yeah, he’s still a rookie as well! He’ll be up there as one of the best blue liners Newfoundland has produced.” That’s high praise for the young prospect coming from one of the greatest Newfoundland players ever. Lastly I wanted to know if this year would be the last we see of Podcalzone. “I think we’ll have to see about that. If it does end up being my last, let’s run it back and win a Four Star Cup. Shoot for the stars, let’s do it.” Captain of the Newfoundland Berserkers and champion of the people. I’d follow Podcalzone through a brick wall and the Zerks should rally behind this:

WIN IT FOR YOSH

Game 39: Newfoundland Berserkers at Detroit Falcons
Fuck off. Seriously just fuck the fuck off. We outshot Detroit fucking 34-8 and we get shutout and they score a goal in the shootout and win the game. Fuck off. One of the biggest games of the season and that’s the result. Detroit deserved to lose fucking 3-0 but noooooooooooooooooooo gotta get fucking flexed on by Valtteri Aalto. Fuck off.

Everyone did their best. What are you going to do when a goalie has a god tier night against us. The puck just is afraid to bounce our way sometimes and I’m fucking tired of it. Main notable Zerk performance would be Jonas Caspari for getting 3 hits, a 2 minute minor, and then a 10 minute major. Well done lad. Also Matty Sandeen played great D. Really everyone did but Matty Sandeen lead the way. Remember the only goal Detroit scored was in the shootout.

Zerk of the Game goes to: Vaseline Podcalzone! A really solid game from the forward where he showed off his two way ability even though no Zerks found the back of the net. Tough night.

Game 40: Nevada Battleborn at Newfoundland Berserkers
The pain continues as Newfoundland loses 1-4. I just think we’re in a slump right now and I don’t know how we’re going to get out of it. Shit fucking sucks. Sad. Fuck.

Notable Zerk performances would be Billy Brooks and Dwayne Gretzky for getting 5 and 4 hits respectively. If we can’t beat Nevada we can at least HIT Nevada. Fuck. Shit. Bas O’Bigbers had an apple and went +1 in a 1-4 loss, so that’s pretty good. Ric Charlesworth had the lone goal in the loss and also went +1. Robert E.O. Speedwagon also went +1 with an apple, 1 hit, 3 blocked shots, and 1 takeaway. At least the REO-Ric-Bas line still doin work.

Zerk of the Game goes to: Robert E.O. Speedwagon! Good night from Speedwagon and was lead the one line that did pretty damn well.

Game 41: Newfoundland Berserkers at St. Louis Scarecrows
We’ve got to be the most unlucky fucking team in the land. HOW DO WE SEEM TO CONSTANTLY DROP 30+ SHOTS AND NOT BE ABLE TO SCORE TWO FUCKING GOALS. IT IS UNREAL. Shit day shit shit shit day. Fucking over it. Newfoundland lose 1-2 despite putting up 36 shots on Kit fucking Kirkstone who was ice cold coming into this game is maybe one of the 3 worst starting goalies in the league. Fuck me.

Games like this crush my will to write these but here we go with some notable Zerk performances. Shit idk Nike Kickz Jr had 12 faceoff wins on 14 attempts. That’s pretty cool man. Hugo had a shit ton of Saves. 33 saves on 35 attempts. Solid night. Bas O’Bigbers had the lone late goal

Zerk of the Game goes to: Bas O'Bigbers. Late goal.

Postgame coverage: I’ve got nothing really to say. Feeling crushed. One of the hardest stretches the Zerks have gone through in a long time. We need to bounce back.

Word Count: 1128
