Game 47: Newfoundland

at Nevada

Newfoundland continues the war path atop their war turtle by going to the desert and winning by a score of 4-2. A relatively close game that Newfoundland came out on top of.

Several solid performances to note in a game like this. Not one player scored twice to build the 4 goals. Billy Brooks, Pasta the Turtle, Dwayne Gretzky, and Jesse Trudeau all scored one goal a piece. Really solid overall teamwork and we couldn’t be prouder of what they have done.

Zerk of the Game honors goes to: Pasta the Turtle for going just a little beyond the rest of the team to deliver the victory. Playing very solid from the blue line Pasta notched a goal and also recorded an apple. The only player on the day to do both and when you factor that in with the defense it becomes quite obvious that the rookie deserves this.

Game 48: Newfoundland Berserkers

at Colorado Raptors

Colorado had to get us back at some point for the big wins we’d been putting up on them. At least happened on their ice and not ours.

Robert Black and Nike Kickz Jr scored the lone goals for Newfoundland on the day. Aleksandrs Balcers and Matty Sandeen both played excellent defense and limited chances out there for the Raptors. Ultimately this was not the best game for Evgeni Petrov. The best rookie goalie to come into the SMJHL since John St. Ark but this was not his night. Only saving 16 shots on 20 attempts, nights like tonight are the ones that will help to build him in the great SHL player he will be one day.

Zerk of the Game goes to: Robert Black for scoring the goal and going +1 on what was a tough night for the Zerks.

Game 49: St. Louis Scarecrows

at Newfoundland Berserkers

Last time out facing St. Louis, Newfoundland faced a painful and embarrassing loss. It was after that game that Pasta the Turtle got the team together and rallied us. Since then we’ve been buzzin. We humble St. Louis 4-1.

Several notable performances in the win. Billy Brooks played solid D and went +2 while notching an apple. Shion Okamoto also went +2 with an apple but additionally had 3 hits. And then Vaseline Podcalzone continues his hot streak by scoring a goal and assisting on two more. The whole team really just played with a delightful synergy today and we’re ridin the war Turtle.

Zerk of the Game goes to: Vaseline Podcalzone! Phenomenal performance by the captain. He played a massive part in elevating the team to where they are and we are so proud to have him lead this ship. We were in dire straights not long ago and his leadership along with Pasta’s rally cry have been the foundation of this good form as of late. Can’t wait to see where this goes.
