SEATTLE AND SAN FRANCISCO ANNOUNCE SEASON 69 STADIUM SERIES GAME AT CENTURYLINK FIELD

November, S68 -- The SHL, in partnership with the Seattle Argonauts and the San Francisco Pride, have announced the S69 Stadium Series game to be played in Seattle’s CenturyLink Field. This will be the first outdoor stadium game played in the FHM era of the SHL and the league has selected last year’s cup champions Seattle and their rivals San Francisco as the inaugural teams to take part in the festivities.

The Seattle Argonauts, who were founded in S56, and the San Francisco Pride, founded in S37, have been fierce rivals since their first respective meetings. Seattle finished last season having won their first Challenge Cup in team history and currently sit towards the top of the league with goal-scoring phenom Max Manning ( @jay2233 ) leading the lead in goals. The Pride, meanwhile, are still searching for their franchise’s first cup and have certainly seen better days although they are hopeful that star-studded rookie Sophie Bordeleau ( @boom ) will be a key piece in getting San Francisco over the hump.

At a joint press conference between the two teams during a recent game in San Francisco, Seattle’s Tiggie Smalls ( @notorioustig ) and San Francisco’s Toast ( @Toast ) offered their comments on being selected for the league’s inaugural stadium game.

"We're excited, obviously. It feels like not long ago that we were the new kids on the block, so following up a championship with a big Stadium Series event really feels like we're starting to create some historic moments for our franchise, and it's especially sweet to give our fans such a special experience at home.” Seattle GM Smalls said to the press on Monday. “It's extra special getting to do it against a fierce rival in San Francisco, who have pushed us from day one to be better."

Toast offered the press similar sentiments. "It's a great honour to be able to revisit a storied rivalry in the Pacific through the stadium series game! We feel that the history of the San Francisco Pride is well represented with our jerseys for this game and hope that all SHL fans will enjoy this great event."

A spokesperson for CenturyLink Stadium told us the following: “We’re very excited to be hosting the first SHL Stadium Series game here at home in Seattle. We’re all very proud of our Argonauts for their Challenge Cup win last season and we know they’re going to continue to impress not just their faithful here in Seattle, but their fans abroad as well.”

The Argonauts and the Pride have also revealed their jerseys for the season, pictured below. Further ticketing information will be available at a later date and Stadium Series jerseys will be available for pre-order at a later date.
