For today’s deep dive I want to compare how Tibuk Soonika played comparatively between his Rookie years in S45 and S69. It’s an interesting comparison because both players were built using different Sim engines being STHS versus FHM8. While it can be a bit of apples to oranges it is also interesting to see how the results differ between the 2 engines.

The first thing we can pick up just looking at wins and losses are that Tibuk has had a much more successful Rookies season in S69 notching 14 wins and 14 losses as opposed to the 9 wins and 16 losses. It is also worth mentioning that S69 saw Tibuk play a larger total of starting games as opposed to S45. Tibuk was never called in to replace his starter in S69 compared relatively to the 3 call ins he got in season 45.

Turning to our Save Percentage we can see that there seemed to be more sustained growth with the addition of TPE in S69 as opposed to S45. The valleys in S45 continue throughout the middle and the end of the season. We can see the high save percentages occur more readily towards the middle and end of the season as opposed to S45. I think anecdotally that we can see that goalies individually maybe marginally more impactful as an individual in FHM as opposed to the STHS. Noteworthy mention should also go to the fact that we are seeing nearly the same season average in S45 (0.892) versus S69 (0.888) so over the grand scheme of the season the performances are similar from a Save percentage point of view anyway.

Looking at our GAA and the goals against across both season we can come to some similar conclusions that we came to from our Save percentages. Across S69 we can see the peak values fall as the season progress indicating that a progression in the player was taking place. S45 seemed to a bit more wild and in fact with the GA we can see the values steadily increased as the season marched along. Now there could be a number of factors that played into this namely being how the simulation calculated things like fatigue as well as deployment by coaches/GMs. interestingly enough the overall average for S45 tends to skew better than it did is S69. Is this an indication that the league has abandoned the SMJHL and is leaving its player for dead and not supporting them? Well maybe that for someone else to deep dive on all we can review is the data posed in front of us.

There are of course many factors that need to be weighted here and outside factors that definitely affect these outcomes but I think we do see some interesting tidbits that show that S45 Tibuk Soonika did have a bit more success individually than S69. However in S45 the Anaheim Outlaws got slaughtered and ended up in the bottom of the league so I think team wise S69 has been the better team success for Tibuk Soonika.
