Sir Devoir prepares for the season
#1

It is finally time for yet another season in Baltimore for the Platoon, and Sir Devoir is hoping for at least a playoff series win. He has been a part of the Platoon for a few seasons now, and is hoping that the time for them to compete will come sooner rather than later. However those kind of thoughts tend to be bad for his focus, so he has to block those thoughts out of his head as he prepares to go back in front of the net. First things first, he has to get back into his exercise routine by starting out with some jogging. He has become quite a celebrity in Baltimore, so many people and Pokemon wave to him as he runs by.

He always plans to run to the local fish market about half and hour of running away from his cabin to grab a couple of trout, and no matter what they say he will not accept a discount on any of the fish. He has basically decided that he should not be treated with any kind of special treatment just because he plays for the local professional hockey team, and is he gets a discount everyone else should. He actually uses the metric of who tries to suck up to him versus who keeps it fair and honest with him to judge who he should keep bringing his business to.

He then jogs back to his house to fry up the fish in a fish frying pot and invite whichever local wild Pokemon are interested to eat the fish with him. As a Gallade he always felt connected to his local Pokemon brethren, and always tried to treat them to food and make sure they are all well taken care of. The next day, he goes on his own personal practice concrete rink and tries to block shots from a hockey puck shooting robot he bought and had a friend helped modify. Eventually it is time to prepare for training camp, where he starts out by catching up with his teammates and meeting the rookies that just came up, along with the newly traded player or free agent that comes into the team.

The training camp will continue with speeches and strategy discussions with the coaches and GMs, along with medical checkups and physicals from team medical personal. Because Devoir is a Pokemon, they have to get a Pokemon doctor (Devoir insists that they are called that, and will get a bit upset if the team refers to them as a "Pokemon Veterinarian") to check on him and make sure he is always game ready. The worst thing that he has had was catching Pokerus before the season from a Nidoking who sneezed close to him, and he got over it before the season started proper. Once he gets medically cleared along with the rest of the team, they do a small practice before starting the big practices the next day.

Devoir will have one on one practice sessions with each player on the team to evaluate how he and they are playing before he starts full team practice. He also spends a lot of time in the weight room, and once had to use his psychic abilities to telepathically remove a barbell that was threatening to drop in a teammate of his. He agreed not to say who the teammate was in order to save their dignity. Eventually they will get the schedule for the season and discuss who the big games are and begin the early strategy talk for each game. Devoir will speak at the team press conferences to discuss how he is feeling and this season he has to reassure everyone that is happy in Baltimore after a few people spread rumors around town that he is feeling unhappy in the city.

Devoir does not know how the rumors started, but he does believe that they took his desire to at least win a playoff series this season out of context as he wanting out of Baltimore if they do not. He assured everyone that he feels happy and content in the Platoon, and that he is not considering leaving any time soon. When the first game starts, Devoir gets a custom design painted on his goalie mask from a local artist that celebrates that start of the season before going out onto the ice and preparing to do his best for the people of Baltimore.

It is time for the games to begin.
