[x2 media draft stuff] Looking at The rounds part 2
#1
(This post was last modified: 11-22-2023, 05:47 PM by Troy_McClure03. Edited 1 time in total.)

In this 143 part series, I look at each round in the SHL draft and share my thoughts or feelings on each pick. Becuase everyone else started with round 1, I went with the last round first, then let the people decide what I do next. They picked option 1, which was round 2. So that's where we will start!

21. Manhattan Rage Rage  - Roger Murdock - Mazatt

At the time of this posting, Roger is sitting on 385 TPErs, Which is really good. He has a bank of 103 TPE, which is also really good. A solid lead off for the second round, and Manhattan should be super excited they got him.

22. New Orleans Specters Specters (via Patriotes) - Cracker Pizza - Patty

Currently at 351 TPE, The Left Wing known as a snack food with another snack food was a great choice for the spooky boys of the south.  This Aggressive little hot pocket shows great promise, and the 3spooky5me friends have done well to pick him up. However, avoid if allergic to gluten.

23. Seattle Argonauts Argonauts - Shadow Fenix - ShadowFenix

This six foot one inch tall glass of milk, from the mean streets of Chicago, was in my first round predictions I believe. I'd fact check it, but I'm too lazy. Anyway, The Raptors raised Shadow well, who will help... cast a light? in Seattle.

24. Calgary Dragons Dragons  - Oranj Konhe - Esso2264

From the person who made the star studded goalie, Inda Bagg, comes a player with 340 TPE, five and a half feet of pure fury. Coming this fall, The Cone Themself shall Rise. IN HELL Oranj Konhe (pronounced ORANJ KONHE) is another raptor with teeth and claws. Look for this Defenseman to light the lights for the dragons.

25. Toronto North Stars Stars - Mac Griddle -mcgriddleluver

MAC ATTACK IS BACK! coming from the Berserkers, Heading to Toronto, This right wing stands at a towering six feet, four inches. They are right at the 343 mark as of this writing and looks to lay some bone crunching hits. Toronto got a steal here, as the physical wear of the Griddle will be feared in the SHL....

26. Buffalo Stampede Stampede (via Barracuda) - Deep Thought - Vulfzilla

Buffalo went and stole the thoughts of all 34 other GMs with this pick. How did they fall to 26? Amazing. But Deep Thought. What a grab. At 368 TPE, a nice well rounded build and a solid six feet between the top of his head and the bottom of his shoe.... Just wow. Side Note, Do not stare at the screen too long, or you will harm your eyesight.

27. Minnesota Monarchs Monarchs (via pride) - Simo Jääskeläinen - ec06aaj

Minnesota got a pretty good deal, considering Simo sits at 376 TPE at the time of this article. That is more than the above player! Pretty good pick!

28. New Orleans Specters Specters - Ace Guilded - Arcalegion

Ace is the place where you go to get your home. Or something, I forget the slogan, and this league has a lot of ace's. This six foot zero inch center from the timberlands of the Timber (soon to be Lobsters if I have my way...) was a great choice for the Spooky Friends Down Low. Great pick up, solid piece to the puzzle!

29. Toronto North Stars Stars (via Monarchs) - Denebor Milasch - Cobbenstein

Rounding out Toronto's last pick of the second round, This pick feels right at home with 335 TPE and from the rumors I am about to start right now, a little under 17 Million dollars in quarters, Denebor Milasch (pronounced Dene-BOR Milasch) . This Goalie looks to make no friends as they climb the TPE ladder to stardome! I am willing to bed that Toronto calls them up early!

30. New England Wolfpack Wolfpack (via Renegades) - Jaxson Reaper - ViN

Jaxson Reaper is 1 TPE away from the Cap, and this Defensemen has said nothing but they want to be partners with the king of shot blocks, the breaker of hearts, sticks, and bubblegum, Troy McClure IIII. That is not true, but still we are going to be teammates and I might as well start my B.S. now with them.

31. Los Angeles Panthers Panthers (via Platoon)  - Abdi Smokes - Locrianmidwest

The 31st pick of the SHL draft went to another Solid D but made out of solid gold: Abdi Smokes. Smokes is going to burn the competition down with proper positioning and checking. This PK specialist will be great for the LAPs, with 317 TPE.

32. Buffalo Stampede Stampede - Johnny Patey V2 - JohnnyPatey

The Stampede stomped all over the league with this steal of a pick. At 385 TPE at this time, Johnny Patey (V2, with the upgraded color scheme and bigger processor) will look to knock you on your butt and score some goals. Solid pick , maybe undervalued by other teams.

33. Chicago Syndicate syndicate  – Leo Roze – vic03

Chicago once said "We might as well draft a solid great defenseman with our 33rd pick, it isn't like this draft class (THE LOBSTERS) doesn't have any. Another Steal, Under Valued player with 374 TPE. The Huge hits will fly from all six and a half feet of this player. Watch out, league.

34. Calgary Dragons Dragons (via Panthers) - Jerry Moonshine - grimgrum

I got a pocket got a pocket full of MoonShine, picked at 34 was great and it's all thy... Dragons. With 310 TPE, this center will pass first, shoot later, and hold the cup up high one day!

35. Los Angeles Panthers Panthers (via Steelhawks)  - Stun Gun - unconfident69

Stunny Gunny, or Stunner Gunner, Or Just Stun Gun. yeah, lets go with Stun Gun, this Goalie does not have the typical frame of most, but makes up for that with an amazing ability to stop pucks. With 326 TPE, this goalie has done well and will hopefully help LAP in the future!

36. Calgary Dragons Dragons (via Inferno)  - Kaarlo Koivunen - Juho

The Finish Government broke the mold with this six foot one Defenseman. At 345 TPE, the Dragons went and got a great defense player who passes well and dekes even weller... Great Pick!

37. Baltimore Platoon Platoon (via Aurora) - Brandon Gilleyes - Mysterious_Fish

The Raptors Left Wing, Brandon Gileyes was just the right size to be a keeper. Any smaller and the SHL would have had to throw them back. However, at five feet even, this player will be interesting to watch. At 310 TPE, this player will grow into a great forward. And at 300 pounds, this player will be throwing some hard muscled checks.

38. Montreal Patriotes Patriotes (via Wolfpack) - Rodrigo Banes - Benpachi

What makes a center great? Is it the ability to pass? is it the ability to score? Is it the ability to read a bedtime story, but with the book in front of you so you are looking down so the letters are upside down, but to the person being read to it is perfect? I think all of the above. And that is what Rodrigo Banes is. With 370 TPE, this capped Center from the Knights will do the Patriots proud!

39. Philadelphia Forge Forge - Gewmba Stolemamoney - UberBJ

38? 39? I'd argue they were one in the same. Gewmba Stolemamoney can also read upside down, and has 357 TPE, which is nothing to sneeze at. This pick shows how hard it was to make picks above them, and Philly went and got a great center, probably for years to come. Stolemamoney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

40. Philadelphia Forge Forge (via Blizzard) - Cob O'Corn - SloppyPainter

The Kraken cobbled corn and I don't care, Cob O'Corn can clearly .... dang this is too hard. The Cornest pick of this draft, the six foot, three inch Right wing out of Ireland has a 312 TPE, the Accuracy of an archer, and the hit of a .... Something corn like. Idk I'm tired now

I had most of this already written, but will cancel the 24535432523 part series here. The bottom line is everyone did great, no one was a bad pick, and we all should have some fun while I win some cups.

The last part was going to have some quotes from a few players, but I scraped that and instead will provide some insight from the Luke himself.

Quote:Going into the draft, we have a couple of options at 10. We really liked users like THePryoAlpaca, Delirivm, IbuprofenAddict, TheOpSquid. Really enjoyed all of their conversations with them, as well as believe in all of them for reaching 1.8k + TPE. But at the end of the day, Squid and Alpaca both went before us, and we needed a defensemen more than a forward. So the best decision was to draft Delirivm. it also helps that JR95 drafted his player before. And I know Delirivm pretty well. Even though there was concerns with his previous players going inactive. We believe that he won't, and I hope he won't because he will be a key piece of the offense for many many seasons when he gets called up. He is looking to be the replacement for r1cebowl in S77.

When looking at 18 however, thats where we really struggled with the pick. Because our top 4 of Troy, Vulfzilla, IbuprofenAddict, and Munk22 were all there. So its always tough in that position. because its always like, what if we pick the 1 person that goes inactive. And then the other 3 turn into studs. But I believe that is not the case at all. Especially since drafting Troy, we know we are getting a very solid user, and someone who has earned before. We really went with a more "safe" pick, drafting recreates more than 1st gens. But the main reasoning around Troy again, is getting defensemen, as our defensive core is great now, we are regressing fast with everyone but 2 defensemen are regressing. So it just further future proofing our defense core. Everyone in the league needs a defensemen, so holding 2 really good ones is a great asset nevertheless.

At 30 though, this is a different pick than I thought we would make. I tried to trade up to draft Vulfzilla, but we didnt have enough asssets in order to trade up even from 30. So unfortunetly we lost Vulfzilla to Buffalo. But, thats why we always have a backup plan. And for us that was Vin. A longtime member of the SHL, and continuing our theme of this draft of drafting recreates haha. But seriously, vin is a great guy. Not the most active LR member, he will even tell you. But with the portal and the checklist, as well as the SHL is an easier place to earn TPE, he is commited to making a player like Vince Reaper. Someone who is a solid player, getting like 1500 TPE and having a solid career. Which is all we need, especially at someone at 30th OA. Even though we aren't sure where he would fit, as 3 defensemen in the same draft, it gets tricky on who they will replace. He was the best player available at 30, and I truly believe that we got a steal of the draft.

I'd like to thank everybody for supporting this series, the poll instead will be asking which draft round should Troy have been picked in, because I don't think I was worth a first round pick!
