Reviewing s59 SHL draft (DD#2)
#1

They got it right
- Jay Sink won't be remember as the best 1st pick of all time but you could do worse. The Erik Johnson of the SHL.
- Sven Svechnikov at 4 was a great pick, by far the best one in the top 5.
- Ryuuji Kawashima at 6 was a good selection for Toronto even though they played most of their SHL career for Winnipeg and Edmonton.
- Miguel Hefeweizen at 7 is an another excellent pick, a player who reached 2k and still is active.
- Robert E. O. Speedwagon at 12 was a good selection by Manhattan, I believe played his whole career there while earning really well.
- Edmonton were the big winner of this draft, using their third selection on Slavakov Vladimirashenko, a defender who just played his last season.
- Angus McFife XVIII is a steal at 17 but still being a 1st rounder I'm putting him in this category. But yeah huge win for Atlanta

They got it wrong
- Dane Von Gucci, Daud Ramza, Matej Winters and Robot Sunfish are disappointing early picks. Draft is always a crap shoot, but I'm sure those teams would love a redo.

It's a marathon not a sprint
- Sekai Wollker looked like a solid prospect but didn't play for long in the big league.
- The user behind Alexis Saint-Michele was involved in so many things around the league, they might have burned themselves out. You hate to see an active user just going IA.
- Fedor Sotakov is probably the biggest what if. Sure Sota didn't totally get the SHL but we were quick to pile on the guy. His articles were fun to read, I feel like in a world he goes early again he would have stuck around and replace wbf as commissioner (ok maybe not)
- Pasta the Turtle at 10 was definitely not a bad pick. If I remember correctly they were up there in the TPE ladder until around the 1k mark and unfortunately went IA shortly after.
- fever95 is behind so many great players and we expected the same for Ethan Bouchard. Great start but seemed to lose the drive when the cudas went into a rebuild.

Steals
- Number one name on the list is Videl Valor who somehow went undrafted. ValorX77 proved a lot of people wrong.
- In a redraft, Makrus "The Tater" Jager would easily go in the top 5.
- When will people learn to stop sleeping on NorwegianDemon? He just creates good players and Salzberger Lillehammersson is an another one.
- Eero Makela at 32 was insane value, probably the best defensive d-man of this class and a fantasy god.
- Goalies often go late but Evgeni Petrov and Iorek Byrinson were starters for a long time.

They were ass
- Marco Barengrub has to be the worst 2k player of all time. Never even close to a PPG, best season was 52 pts. I tried something different and focus heavily on defensive attributes as a center. I was fine not putting up big numbers but not being a factor in giveaways or takeaways was a big letdown. Ass offensively and defensively, the total package. The lesson here is just follow the FHM meta and copy the top scorers, the build diversity promised by switching to FHM was a big load of crap.

To be fair, Daud Ramza and Matej Winters both had really solid SHL careers, even if their earning didn't keep pace

Edit: ok I thought Ramza played longer, my b
