Popovics signs for Ottawa
#1

Following the news that Hungarian goaltender Zsigmond Popovics declared an interest in playing hockey for an SMJHL team, the news of his signing has reached my desk at quite some pace. Reports as of a few days ago are that Popovics has been signed to a 2,000,000 dollar Draftable Free Agent contract by the Ottawa Highlanders. Popovics' role within the team is still uncertain, however experts say that he has been brough in as replacement for outgoing backup goaltender Luke Fromm. The Highlanders, making their late season push for the playoffs, have got unwavering faith in current starting goaltender, Bishop Van Apeldoorn.

Early team news states that Popovics has already joined the squad and is fitting in well, with good performances in training and building a strong rapport with Van Apeldoorn. Eager to impress as the regular season comes to a close, the Highlanders will next face the Detroit Falcons with just seven games to go until the playoffs.
