Sorry about the incedient a few days ago, I forgot to log out of my brothers account before posting it

The Regina Elk finished the season with a 41-24-1 record good enough for 3rd in the league and 1st in the Northern Conference. The only two teams better than the Elk were the Maine Timber and the Nevada Battleborn who finished 1 and 2 in the Southern Conference. I will be going over why Regina finished where they did in the standings and how my player Grant Berd performed.

Starting with Maine. The Timber finished top of the league with a 48-16-2 record for 98 points and part of the reason why they are there is because of their talent from two players in specific, those two players are Edouard Lavoie and Mia Lavoie. The Lavoie’s each had 100 point seasons with Edouard having a 101 point season and Mia having a 100 point season on the dot. They also had 2 other players who had 90+ point seasons and a total of 6 players with over a point per game seasons. Shotty McStopper held his side of things ending the season with a .901 save percentage and a 2.99 GAA with three shutouts. Not the best but not the worst and with the offense that Maine had it makes sense why they finished at the top of the league and above the Elk.

Next up is Nevada. The Battleborn finished 2nd in the league and 2nd in the Southern Conference with a record of 43-22-1 for 87 points. Nevada might not have had the same four players who got 90+ points in the season but they got two players with 80+ point seasons and a total of seven players with at least a point per game this season. Clearly not the best top end production but overall they had better depth scoring than Maine. With better depth for scoring you would think that they would have a better record than Maine but you would be wrong as Nevada’s starting goalie had a .895 save percentage and a 3.47 GAA also getting three shutouts. Tomas Suchanek had a poor season in net and that is why I think they finished 2nd in the league instead of 1st.

Now let’s talk more about Regina. We already talked about where they finished in the league with their 83 points but how did they finish where they did? Bean Beanman Jr led the way with 94 points and Mary Hollywood was the 2nd best with 82 points. Overall only four players finished with at least a point per game. When you look at the team and see that their depth scoring isn’t the best you wonder how they finished 3rd in the league, that is partially due to the team's goalie Grant Berd. Grant is most likely a candidate for best goalie this season in the SMJHL finishing the season with a .907 save percentage and a 2.58 GAA and six shutouts. Grant led the league in GAA and shutouts this season which helped Regina get some big wins.

Not everything is about offense as some things revolve around your defense. Regina had just that and good goaltending. Getting swept in the 3rd round wasn’t ideal but with a rookie goalie that just finished their first season already dominating the future is bright in Regina.
