Playoff Olof and the numbers behind the man

Since we got boxscores in S66, and getting traded to New England in season 68. Olof Karsikko has been a beast for us. And he is the best when he is in the playoffs. There is a phrase I used in the SHL 75 for Olof. Which is Playoff Olof. because he carried us throughout his career. Even now with 800 TPE Olof has been timeless in the playoffs.

@Accka

Lets zoom out a bit before we look further into the details. It will include his time in New England and Los Angeles

With 2 Razov Wins, 2 Razov Nominations, and another Nomination / Win in the books with the S77 Challenge Cup win. Olof will have 5 Wins or Nominations for the Anton Razov. With 7 finals appearances over that span. Olof will have the sole lead in most Razov Wins / Nominations ever. With him and Joe Kurczewski @Jkortesi are tied at 4 Razov Wins/ Nominations

If Olof wins then he will be the only player with 3 Anton Razov Wins. There there has been 7 x2 time Razov Winners (A Jobin, Olof Himself, Geezus Kryyst, Beaujeaux Biscuit, Cillian Kavanagh, Brandon Sawyer, and Griffin Simons)

Playoffs in general

Olof has played in 16 straight post seasons. He never missed a playoff ever in his career. Over his 259 playoff games, he has a career Save% of .910. With 17 shutouts in that time frame. He also leads all goalies in career playoff wins with 150 wins. 2nd place is Elizabeth Doyle with 128 wins, and Matt Smith with 122 wins. To be fair with Olof, he has played many more games than them as well.

Making it to the finals on 7 separate occasions. He also has the record of most games started in the playoffs with 28 games started. When new england played 4 rounds and went to game 7 in all of them to win the Challenge Cup. He has played x7 20+ games in the playoffs.

FHM8 and New England

Going from Los Angeles to New England in S68, Olof transferred from one dominant team to an upcoming team in New England. Along with that, in S66 we switched to FHM8, and from that we have boxscores. With boxscores we have game by game data for players at last. So we can track Olof's career more granularly. So lets get into it

OpponentFHM8 SV%NEW Only SV%
BUF0.9190.919
TOR0.9170.917
HAM0.9130.913
TBB0.9120.912
TEX0.910.91
MTL0.9060.906
PHI0.9050.905
WPG0.9010.901
LAP0.8990.899
CGY0.8850
SEA0.8760

As you can see, Olof ravaged the east. Buffao, Tor, Hamilton, TBB he just dominated. With Texas this season he did well. Montreal and Philly, both 2 strong teams when Olof has faced up against . Still delivered good performances. Then with Winnipeg he was fine, but kept us in the games. When we won against them twice in the finals. And then when they beat us in another. Then Finally against LAP themselves when we got swept in S75. That was his worst, and he was still ok.

60.9070.913

Mr Game 7. When the chips were down. When we needed a hero. Olof showed up.  And he showed up strong. I think the stats just speak for themselves. Game after game after game he came in clutch.

1st Round0.9110.915
2nd Round0.9110.913
Conference Finals0.9050.905
Finals0.9030.903

This one also makes sense. 1st and 2nd rounds were against easier competition. Where with the Conference finals it is the same SV% against Philly. because we only played against Philly in the Conference finals.

The in the finals, we did lose 2 of those finals. But he still came out on top.

Olof showed up when it matters. And for that I am grateful. I wont know how many Cups New England would have won without him. But I know with him, its 3. For now...
