S79 SMJHL PT #1: Season Preview Due: Sunday, October 20th @ 11:59 PM PST
#31

Through the early part of the season, the San Diego Tidal have gone out to a 3-7-3 start. Currently sitting in 13th place in the lesgue, they're working on finding their chemistry. While they have a lot of work to do, the Fortune/Cross/Kovalev line has started to gel.

Joey Fortune entered the SMJHL after the draft and was slow to catch up. Now that he's got his line mates, his goal scoring had picked up. He's currently sitting at 6 goals and 1 assist on the season. While his career is still very young, he's hoping to keep up the goal scoring as he grows.

Ethan Cross is the center on this dynamic and upcoming line, and he's a great playmaker. Currently sitting with 7 assists on the season, Cross is the reason why this line is able to score when they're on the ice. Cross is sitting second on the team with a 54% face off win percentage.

Christov Kovalev is the old man on the line. In his third season, the 6' 6" Kovalev brings the physical game to this line. He's second on the team in hits, and leads the team in penalty minutes.

The future is going to be bright for the Tidal!

The outlook for the Malamutes is middle of the road. We have lots of young talent, but I think one more year of progression will really help.

One key this year are definitely our leader Christina Fantobens. The most offensively gifted player we have, we will be leaning on her hard for driving the offence.

Secondly, we have Chuck Lumbermouth. Christina’s partner in crime he has an offensive touch paired with being reliable defensively. Need him to keep the puck going the right direction, chipping in offensively when possible.

I think the final piece to the puzzle are all out S80 players, myself included. We are coming in here to make a difference immediately.  I’ll focus on myself (Geno Vajihollahi) for this segment. I’m a natural winger but playing Center this year. I’ll be starting on the second line to hopefully provide some depth scoring and a big body.

The odds may not be in our favour for an amazing year this year, but I think we will surprise a few people!

Vancouver has a rough road ahead of them this year. As a team deep within their rebuild, things are looking grim. However, all is not negative, and there are certainly a few key players that should look to make a strong start for the team this year.

To start, Aaron Noxus (LW). Noxus is a no-bullshit all offensive winger build to shoot the puck and score goals, nearly to a fault. With a strong personality and an even stronger shot, it's not hard to see how this new addition to the team will get them going for the coming season.

Up next, Trent Mackenzie (G). Through the preseason, it became rather obvious that Vancouver is lacking in the defense department. However, in net they made a big add this year. Mackenzie put up a very respectable .900 SV% over 7 matches. While its clearly not the greatest, for a goaltender who has just entered the league and with a defense about as strong as a wet noodle, things are looking up for this young netminder's future.

Lastly, Hans Gronlund (LD). Gronlund is a rookie defender added after the preseason had ended, but is clearly looking to be a big help in the woe's of Vancouver's defense. The team struggled to keep their opposition out of their zone during the preseason, and Gronlund is poised to become the next up to help fix this. With strong stats over the start of the season, keep an eye out on this player.

enlightened centrist currently plays for the colorado raptors, who sit fifth in the simulation major junior hockey league. second in the Southern Conference. the colorado raptors are a very promising team with a mix of good top end talent and good up and coming prospects. these would include the following

baron samedi, who has twenty eight points in seventeen games. he is fourth in points. baron samedi is coming off a 93 point season, which i think is pretty good. he is very good at pretty much everything.

meowlnir kittenson is a goalie. meowlnir kittenson is good because they have stolen games for the raptors singlehandedly, such as having over 50 saves in one game multiple times. there is not much to complain about there.

enlightened centrist is last but not least. perhaps the most important out of any of the team. his on ice performance is very poor right now, but consider that he has such an incredible mind that he can see all sides of anything at all whenever he wants. thats how good he is. if you rolled a d20 and it landed on the table, hewould know what the other side was opposite to the top side because thats how good he is at seeing all the sides.

There is no doubt and no misdirection in the Nevada locker room. This team is rebuilding and the team knows it. It lost a lot of talent in the offseason and the new blood will have to step up big time if it wants to get good again soon. Thankfully for the Battleborn, there is a lot of talent coming in that can come in and make the ride a little less bumpy while it figures out its new identity.

Aurora Borelalis is new to the team but has already got over 20 points and is currently shooting at over 20%, an impressive start for the rookie. Speaking of rookies, Drew Mcintyre is finding his feet as a power forward for the future, already having 12 assists and being one of the league leaders in hits at 50 is huge for the power forward of tomorrow. As always Mike Geno is a steadying hand in these trying times for the battleborn, leading the team in points at 22 and continuing to push for greatness

As the SMJHL season kicks off, the Kelowna Knights are embracing a rebuilding year. With a 5-7-4 record, it’s clear the team is still finding its footing. However, there are some bright spots on the roster that will be crucial for success this season.
First up is Grog Strongjaw, our rookie center. He’s shown promise with 3 goals and 4 assists, bringing energy and playmaking ability to the ice. Then we have Dirk Dienhart, who’s been a standout with 3 goals and 11 assists for a total of 14 points. His vision and ability to set up plays will be key in helping the Knights score.
Another key player is Jauhnne Hawky, contributing 5 goals and 6 assists. His scoring ability will be essential for the team’s offensive efforts. Finally, Scott Justice has also made an impact, netting 6 goals and 5 assists. Together, these players will be vital in shaping the Knights' future as they develop through this rebuilding year.

The St. Louis Scarecrows are a younger team, so they'd need to get some crucial point production from their older players. 8 of their current 16 players have only played for 2 seasons maximum. This means that older players such as Louis Belanger who has been there for 4 seasons now and their current leading scorer with 23 points in 16 games. Another older player they will need some good point production from is Emile Dionne who has been there for 4 seasons as well, and previously had 71 points in 66 games in season 78. They would need said older players to perform good in order for them to place a high standing for the playoffs. The Scarecrows are also looking to get some good point production from their new rookies such as Boogan McGillicuddy who has 13 points in 16 games with 21ATOI while playing as a 1RW, Zac Peters who has 12 points in 16 games with 15.45ATOI as a 2RW and Tylah Fortune who has 11 points in 16 games as a defencemen.

The Berserker's had a big draft class in S78, so I expect them to improve a lot for this S79. We've had a very good start at 12-4-1 putting our points percentage at 0.735. The top three players for the team's success are TheGreatOne, Pohler Beargeron, and Jason Bourne. They make up our top line and have produced the most pts on the team. All three players have a high shooting percentage with the lowest being 15.3% by TheGreatOne and highest sitting at 17.2% by Jason Bourne. Therefore, Jason Bourne leads the team in goals and TheGreatOne leads in assists. Pohler Beargeron has a total of 23 points which is a leap from his last season where he finished with 65 points in 66 games played. The first line wouldn't be this successful without a solid blueline. Leo Finnegan and Ivan Ivanovitch are our offensive defensemen who have been supporting our top 6 to find the back of the opponent's nets. The Berserkers have a very young goalie tandem who have been playing above their expectations so far in my opinion. Katharina Rosenthal has avoided a sophomore slump and has been putting up higher sv% compared to their rookie season in s78. James Connolly, my fellow draft mate, has a good record of 6-2 and has been playing a solid backup role to Rosenthal posting a 0.893 sv% which I expect to trend upward as the season goes on.

While I can't speak to the team success to start this season for San Diego, we knew coming in it was going to be about being a threat in the win column... It was more or less going to be about developing and finding chemistry as the young squad is striving for improvement across the board. In my opinion San Diego must find consistency across all of the lines in order to be competitive, as the top line and veterans can only do so much.

Skyler Stevens - Is going to have to find the prowess needed from the center position. It's not easy facilitating, but it is a necessity at the Junior level from your up and down center men.
Marko Kivimaki - Just as important on the defensive side, Marko is going to be playing huge minutes this season as the only heavily experienced defensive player on the team.
Goalie - Hard to put a name here, but they are going to need to find a way to steal a game or two if they are going to surprise anyone this season.

From looking around the Great falls room and front office we know we aren't going to be pushing to win a cup this season but the key players on this team are
the younger players who will play a vital role in this rebuild and the future of Great Falls.

Nanashi Mumei - is bye far going to be a key player when you look into this being their second year the potential they already has is second to none while being the second line right winger they not only adds offensively but also being able to dig deep and help out the penalty kill whenever they are called upon.

Grindle Waters-Johnson - he is not only leading our team in scoring this season but also only being in his second season it is just amazing to watch him tear it up on the ice for Great Falls, he not only wears the A with pride he truly shows what it means to be a leader on this team and throwing his body all over the ice.

Martin Mackerelmore - while im just a backup being able to get the experience to help this rebuild in the future i had to mention it while i sit and learn from one of the very best in Galad, my note book is always out from the way he carries him self to in the net stopping shots, its a pleasure to be apart of this amazing tandem with him

The three most Important players for the Yukon malamutesfirst one is rookie stud that was drafted in the second round Hamilton steelhawk, he will be important player that will get better as the season goes on and tries to contribute as a top level player in the simulation hockey league. He is taking a lot of shots on net so far in pre season and he will keep that up in the regular season and show why is going to be considered the best dangler in the simulation iunior uockey league. The other two players that will be important for the Yukon malamutes would have to be chuck Lumbermouth and jimmy two shoes. Chuck is simply just a dog and going to be tough player to play against and he loves giving people the lumber. Also jimmy has two shoes which is pretty cool not going to lie and score a lot of goals.
