Registered Member Corey Tripp was the 2nd round pick for the hamilton steelhawks. He was selected 14th overall. All though he is a sure SHLer in the future many are questioning his abilities to play this year. Many rumors have been flying around saying that Tripp has been talking to Darian Scherbluk about being a possible send down. After much speculation the rumors have been proven correct. On Wednesday the Steelhawks faced the Calgary Dragons. The Steelhawks players poured on the ice but Tripp was not among them. He was not a healthy scratch either because he was not among the players in the press box either. Many questioned it wondering if it was an injury or something of that nature. But in a post game press conference that Corey Tripp had been sent down to the Motreal Impact unless he is needed back. This could be good or bad for Tripp it all depends on how he takes the news. As long as he realizes that this is not necessarily a bad thing for his career, I think it could actually be a huge help. He will most likely be playing first line minutes for Montreal where in Hamilton he will be playing bottom 6 minutes. It will give him a chance to be the star player of the team, something that every player could use as a confidence booster. The day after the announcement Tripp tweeted this to his fans “happy to be a part of Montreal Impact! I know this may seem like a step in the wrong direction but I assure you it is not. This is what is best for my development.†This is a great sign Tripp seems content with his teams decision of sending him down. I am sure he is somewhat sad he has to live another year not playing in the NWJHL but it really is the best thing for his future. Tripp arrived in Montreal yesterday and was seen on the ice twice today. Tripp skating on Impact ice for the first time After talking to Tripp for 20 minutes after one of his skates, his general attitude was good toward the whole situation. He was content with the position he is in and was happy to play another season in the NWJHL. He thinks that this will be a big year for his career. “It is an important year for me I need to make the best out of my situation one way or another I will be playing hockey, so I am happy to be here.†Well said by Tripp This is a make or break year for his career. If he continues to develop and put up points. He will come back next year way better, but if he comes in with a bad mind set his career could easily go down the drain. So it is a huge year for Tripp and it will be very interesting to see how he does this year. Personally I believe he will be a star in this league one day, but only time will tell.
