Winters makes NWJHL Debut
#1

Kelowna, BC -

Highly touted prospect Cyan Winters got the call in all four of this weeks preseason games for the Knights, giving friends, family, scouts, fans, and his team a peak into what he is capable of and what they can expect. The results were positive overall, although several of the games did not necessarily show off Winters' skills. In fact, the Winters himself stated confidently that come the season opener his "skills will be drastically improved." Apparently, he was packing it in for the preseason, but expected a dramatic increase in his ability come the regular season.

In game one of the preseason, against the Vancouver Whalers, Winters faced 33 shots and allowed 3 goals in rout to an overtime victory, 4-3. Stopping over 90% of his shots faced in his professional debut was an impressive victory, and getting the win must have only made it that much sweeter. Winters displayed nerves of steel in overtime, stopping all three shots that came at him in at him within the first two minutes of the extra period.

Winters would have his most impressive start of the preseason in his second game. The Prince George Firebirds threw 27 shots at the young netminder but only found the twine a single time, as Winters picked up his second win in as many games. His sparkling .963% was described by his teammates as a "masterful performance."

Unfortunately in his third game, the Whalers would get revenge on Winters. Facing a mere 15 shots, Winters allowed 3 goals whilst the Knights were shut out. The game was Winters first loss at the professional level and a serious disappointment from the whole team.

In his fourth and final game of the preseason, the Firebirds also exacted their revenge. Facing an even more meager 12 shots, Winters allowed two goals and the Knights were AGAIN blanked, marking their second time in as many games getting shutout.

Winters final stat line for the preseason was strong:
GP W L OTL PCT GAA
4 2 2 0 0.897 2.23

Looking towards the regular season opener over the weekend, Winters expects to showcase his increased skillset along with the experience gained from his first batch of professional games. Winters stated that he hopes to see increased offense from his teammates, noting that the Knights offensive production was the lowest in the league in the preseason.

Winters will be conducting an on-air interview with a local TV provider at some point soon as well, representatives from the Knights have told us.
