Registered Junior Member Vancouver's Gustav Grimm leads the league with 10 wins. Well it's been a hot start for the Vancouver Whalers. Sitting at the top of the SMJHL standings at this time, the Whalers have a 11-3-1 record and riding high behind the spectacular play of rookie winger Magnus Jakobsen who leads the team with nine goals and fifteen points. But it just isn't Jakobsen who is playing hot, the whole Whalers roster has been on fire. Ten Whalers have double digits in points which is tied with Prince George for best in the league with Jakobsen leading the league in goals and Robert Zygadlo tied for first in assist with 14. Leading the SMJHL in goals for per game with 4.07, the Whalers are just as good at keeping the goals against to a minimum as well as the Whalers are tied for leagues best with St. Louis with 2.73 goals against. Leading the way in net is Whalers goaltender Gustav Grimm. Grimm, the first Swiss born player in all of the SMJHL and SHL has been a bright light for the blue and green. Grimm posts a 10-3-1 record with a .899 save percentage and a 2.74 GAA as the starter for the Whalers, his back-up Milo Ethier, who relieved Gustav in one of his worst performances has a 1-0 record and stopped all seventeen shots he faced. So while the Whalers are riding the wave of success now, a consistent effort will be needed through out the season to capture their third straight Four Star Cup but right now they're the heavy favorites to repeat again. 261 words 1 Picture
