![]() Simulation Sports Network</div> Welcome back to SSN sportscenter, today we highlight the three matchups in the SMJHL. :impact: MONTREAL IMPACT (4-3-1) vs VANCOUVER WHALERS (5-1-1) ![]() This matchup would mark the first time this two teams would face each other in the season and the first game of a five game mini-series. Two rookie goaltenders faced off ass Dymo Ranjan started in the Impact net and Mike Schmidt for the Whalers. Vancouver came flying out of the gate and capitalized on some sloppy play from the impact. Vyskoč would score just 45 seconds into the game with a backhand threw the Ranjan, Cole Hogan would draw the line assist on the goal. Later on in the period Jonathan Biron would head to the box for tripping for 2 minutes or less. On the ensuing power-play the dynamic duo of Thimas King and Jay Robinson would combine for King's 6th goal of the season. To close out the first 20 minutes, Mike Schmidt came up big stopping Charlie Schenn on several occasions. The impact opened the period on a mission, but Kapsars Tsizling would have none of it, getting his body infront of shots and laying opponents out. The hard work of the Imoact would pay off as they were awarded with a power-play as O'Brian would go off for high sticking. The power play only saw one shot fired towards Mike Schmidt who again denied Charlie Schenn. We fast forward to mid way through the frame with a faceoff in the Impact Zone, King would win the faceoff, keeping the puck on his stick and circling the net to beat Ranjan on a warp around. With the Score now 3-0 for Vancouver, it seemed like it couldn't get any worse for Montreal but it did when Anton Gustafsson was blindsided by Marius Jeremiassen III. A bloodied Gustafsson would head to the locker room for repairs and would return to open the third period. The frustration of Montreal was clear as they appeared unfocused to start the final frame, it wouldn't take long until the parade to the box started. Ranjan shut the door for his teammates in the third but Montreal couldn't solve Mike Schmidt who would come away with a 16 save shutout as Vancouver won 3-0. <div align="center"> ![]() Mike Schmidt is named 2nd star in his 1st career SMJHL shutout</div> :impact: 0 Goals: Goalies: Ranjan 20 sv, 4-4-1 ![]() ![]() ![]() Martins Peterson would get his fourth straight start in attempt to extend a three game winning streak while Jackson Weekes got the start as these teams faced off for the first time this season. Highly touted SHL prospect Ryan Sullivan started the game a little eager and would head to the sin bin just 25 seconds into the game. The falcons power play looked unorganized and were able to only muster one shot on goal. Mid way trough the first frame Zallerras Szlerchek was sprung on a breakaway but was met by an aggressive Petersons at the top of the circle and was flipped through the air. With 2:45 remaining in the period Pavasars would open the scoring with a wrist shot that went top shelf where momma hides the cookies. <div align="center"> ![]() Petersons takes out Szlerchek on a breakaway</div> With the Falcons holding a 1-0 lead the second period saw both teams play a passive style, combining for only 7 shots. One of those shots game from Roland Wolf, Wolf believed he had scored at 8:04 of the period but no goal was signalled. The play would continue and Smulander would jam a rebound past a sprawled Jackson Weekes. The Smulander goal would be called back however because upon further review the shot from Roland Wolf had went through the net, when all the dust had settled it was a 1-1 game. In the third period Ryan Sullivan would blast a point shot on the power play past Petersons for the go a head goal. Down 2-1 Detroit was in me jeopardy of losing their second game of the season, until Chris MacMilan fired a shots rom behind the net of Weekes to tie the game. Four minutes later Showron would beat Weekes on a slapshot from center ice to reestablish the Falcons lead. Not long after his goal Showron would put the final nail in the coffin with his second goal of the game to give Detriot the 4-2 win. ![]() :Falcon: 4 Goals ![]() :force: REGINA FORCE (3-4-2) vs KELOWNA KNIGHTS (2-7-0) ![]() Kelowna comes into this game on a 3 game losing streak with Lundgren getting the start. While Regina is on a two game losing streak of their own and Kostur with his 10th straight start. The first period had a little kick to it, the two most physical teams in the league punished one another physical as a hatred for each other was evident for the who western rivals. In between hits we had a goal scored, Bronsen Zerchai deflected a Granger shot to give the Force a 1-0 lead. Kelowna fired back when defensmen Paul King awkwardly shot the puck with his stick between his legs. The period ended with a score of 1-1. Not much happening in the second period in terms of scoring but the physical play did not let up. Miikka Granlund would send Kovalchuk flying through the air with a hip heck. Kelowna would gain some momentum off the hit. Kenton Kane was staring down an open net with the puck on his stick but Kostur managed to jump across the crease and made the save. <div align="center"> ![]() Kane celebrates as if he won the Four Star Cup</div> In the third period Kenton Kane would get his revenge as he gave Kelowna a 2-1 lead, the following celebration would draw the attention of the Knights bench. Kelowna would not stop there as Acker would score his third of the season on the power play. Regina was unable to muster a comeback and fell by a score of 3-1, losing their third game in a row. :force: 1 Goals: Zerchai (8) Goalies: Kostur 12 sv, 3-5-2 ![]() ![]() Registered Senior Member ![]() Registered Patron Saint of the SMJHL Quote:Originally posted by MastaSchmitty+May 24 2014, 03:39 PM--><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1' id='QUOTE-WRAP'><tr><td>QUOTE (MastaSchmitty @ May 24 2014, 03:39 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Aww, no poll? ![]() <!--QuoteBegin-Hatrrick44@May 24 2014, 02:47 PM VyskoÄ would score just 45 seconds into the game with a backhand threw the Ranjan, Cole Hogan would draw the line assist on the goal.[/quote] Game over 45 secs in ![]() ![]() ![]() MWHazard Wrote:i'll playwith anyone Justice,Sep 18 2016, 02:09 PM Wrote:4-0 and 0-4 aren't that different tbh McJesus - Today at 10:38 PM Wrote:FIRE EGGY ![]() ![]() |
