Welcome to the SMJHL Post-Game show with David Benson! We have four games to recap today and they were good ones! Let's get started!
Game #20: :impact: Montreal Impact vs Regina Force :force: This would be a very tightly contested game and it gets going early in the first period. After Montreal's Martell goes off for a hooking call, David Webb will hammer one home on the Power-Play to give the Force the lead. Chances would remain even and the score would remain unchanged until eight minutes into the second. With a nice feed from Vlaters, Jorma Ruutu knots this game at 1 a piece beating Kozar five-hole. Both goalies would continue to their superb play all the way until the final buzzer of Overtime. Both making over 20 saves! To the shootout! Esposito and Pomery both score for the Force, while Kozar stops them all. Force win 2-1. :force: 2 (SO) :impact: 1 Code: 3 Stars Game #21: Kelowna Knights vs St. Louis Scarecrows Lots of scoring in this one and it starts just 26 seconds into the game with Steve Linkos beating Mark Harter who didn't seem ready. After Kvarnvall ties it for the Knights, Linkos not even a minute later scores his second of the game to give the lead back to the Scarecrows. Still in the first period a few minutes left, Danny Phantom launches a stretch pass up to David Benson for a breakaway. He beats Jackson with a nice move and we head to the second tied up! Fast forward to the third, tied at three now. Svensson off for hooking and on the ensuing Knights PP, captain Ales Smirnov feeds Bravo who sneaks it past Jackson. 4-3 Knights. Scarecrows would fire 8 shots at Harter in the third who stopped them all. Tanner Carter would make it 5-3 Knights and that's all she wrote. 5 3 Code: 3 Stars Game #22: Kelowna Knights vs Regina Force :force: Important divisional matchup here and both teams would come out hard. Harter again is caught off-guard just 36 seconds in by a Maxim Golubev slapshot and the Force take an early lead. Sound familiar? Kvarnvall again ties it up for the Knights later in the first. Svensson goes off for corss-checking 13 minutes in and Khymylev fires it home for a 2-1 lead. End of the first. Second period was all Knights with shots but they couldn't beat Kovar on any of them! Third period again all Knights, eleven minutes in Cole Rogers-Tanaka puts one past Kovar finally and we're tied. Going into Overtime shots were 32-13 Knights. After fending off a Tom Berkis penalty, Tanner Carter finds the back of the net for his fourth of the season and the Knights win! 3 (OT) :force: 2 Code: 3 Stars Game #23: Vancouver Whalers vs St. Louis Scarecrows Scarecrows run into early penalty trouble in this one. Fernando Pergher and Sterling Knight collect PP tallies early to give the Whalers a 2-0 lead. Shortly after Costa takes a penalty for the Whalers and the Scarecrows get a chance. Stacker Pentecost will score his first goal of the season to cut the lead in half. From there it was all Whalers however who outplayed their opponents badly. AJ Willison would score two and add an assist while Goat Curry would score the other lone goal for the Scarecrows. Shots were 32-13 Whalers who would win this 6-2. 6 2 Code: 3 Stars |
